Florida better be ready for a fight

thought your running game looked awesome in the 1st qter....rbs/oline. your lack of depth just caught up with you in the 2nd half. tough relying on a freshman qb. once you get behind the pressure builds then it's inevitable that mistakes will occur....you can only hope they keep them to a minimum. definitely pulling for the vols this weekend....good luck.

VolNation would be a great reference for a Sociology study. Some fans practice self-preservation. Some fans live or die with every play. Many fans (these days) are somewhere in-between.

No, there's no in-betweeners. We're either doing kool aid shooters or despising the Vols more than baby killers. Snuff said. Kays closed'. End of storee. Do knot pass go. Do not collect 200 dolorous. No moor to be said. Rodgers and out. That is awl. Book hit.

The annual "Florida better be ready!" thread.

I see nothing to tell me it won't be the same result as usual.

Bottom line is this time just can't afford to make mistakes. We never recovered from the pick six last Saturday, you could tell as soon as that happened both sides of the ball got deflated. Dooley was pissed and he did what he could to keep the guys together. They just wanted to quit. The first half of the Oregon game gave us plenty of reason to be optimistic, especially if they come out and play that way for 60 minutes. We executed and looked sharp. The OL played like a group of seasoned vets for the most part, the defense was sharp until that penalty on Gordon swayed momentum. Do I expect to win Saturday? No. Do I think we can win? Yes. As long as we don't make mistakes and can keep Demps under control we will have a shot. Can't keep the Defense on the field as much as we did last Saturday. Let's go out and do it Vols. Got to stay plugged in for sixty minutes.

I remember a top 5 ranked AL team loosing to GA Tech in the '75 opener. Tech did not win another game that year. In '76,top ranked AL only beat winless FL St 8-7 on last minute safety and field goal. In '82 UT was not supposed to beat #2 AL, but we did.
I can go on and on...Beating LSU in a comeback, Notre Dame in a huge comeback. Never, never, never give up till the the game is over! The Vols CAN beat FL! Give the players a chance to do it!

I'm not a super optimistic when it comes to the conference opener. Florida is a talented football team but so is Tennessee. We may be young and lack in depth but Florida is sort of in the same boat in that department. If you wanna be a NegaVol then please do not comment, there is no room here for so called "Vol Faithful" that want to continue to bad mouth our team and call for Simms head and complain and whine like little three year olds. This season isn't over yet and who the hell knows, as crazy as this season as been, anything can happen.

Coach Derek Dooley called out the players and called out the staff about staying mentally tough and carrying the fight the whole way. I see a bright future coming the rest of this season, as well as for this week's game. The players have to learn to stay jacked for all sixty minutes.

Look at what Tennessee did against Oregon, they came out, they hit them in mouth and were beating up the number seven team in the nation and then they quit. I believe the lesson will be learned this week in practice and they will come out swinging, only this time, not to quit. Florida on the other hand has not really been "picking it up" until late game situations or after the first half whistle. They've had continuous problems with Pouncey getting the snap off to Brantley, receivers dropping balls and well, getting played fairly well by two under the radar teams. If the Vols can come out and put extreme pressure on Florida to start off Saturday, we could see them up 14 or 21-0. Pressure Pouncey up front, cause him to make mistakes. Put a blanket over the receivers, make a young, inexperienced Brantley run for his life. The main key to slowing down their offense is going to be putting the brakes on Demps which I believe the Big Orange D can handle that task.

Tennessee will bring all they got this game, and they'll leave it all out on the field. Look for a new mentally tough team to come roaring out of the tunnel Saturday and ready to turn the college football world upside down with an upset. The Gators better be ready for a fight and better not think for one second that they are going to waltz into Neyland and put a blowout up.

GO VOLS

dam right! Go Vols! we ready!

I have to say this,FL is no Oregon. The way we played until the turnovers far exceeded my wildest expectations. We will come out ready to play and CDD will have these guys ready. You cannot tell me the way florida has played the last 2 games that we really do not have a legit shot at urban creyer and company!GO VOLS I BELIEVE!!!!!

florida is not nearly as good as oregon. Fla's offense had trouble scoring against lowly miami ohio and usf! UT can upset uf!!!

Vols fans are in for a rude awakening.

When Brantley can make a basic pitch and Pouncey can finish a snap I may be worried.

Until then, I'm going to assume they will have trouble in a hostile environment. If they can't consistently perform basic football plays at home how can they do it on the road?

Didn't you hear that they're going to beat us as bad or worse than they did Miami and USF?

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure they quit. I think hey got on the downhill side of the game. One thing went wrong. Then, another and another. Before you know it, the game got away from them.

This team hasn't had Coach Dooley long enough for them to take on his personality and to embrace the fire that burns inside him, but they will.

Once he's had enough time to earn their trust, no team of Coach Dooley's will quit.

We may not beat Florida - THIS year - But, if DD's the type of person I think he is, it's not about beating Florida. It's about taking these young men on a journey. The wins will come. The titles will be earned. Right now, however, they need to learn how to trust each other completely. That's the essential first step.

For 25 minutes, our young, inexperienced team kicked the crap out of the probable Pac-10 champ. We also discovered some rays of genuine sunshine in players like Poole. It was a good first step. If they had carried out DD's game plan for 60 minutes, we would have shocked a hell of a lot of people.

It'll come. And, personally, I can't wait for Saturday!!
