I'm not a super optimistic when it comes to the conference opener. Florida is a talented football team but so is Tennessee. We may be young and lack in depth but Florida is sort of in the same boat in that department. If you wanna be a NegaVol then please do not comment, there is no room here for so called "Vol Faithful" that want to continue to bad mouth our team and call for Simms head and complain and whine like little three year olds. This season isn't over yet and who the hell knows, as crazy as this season as been, anything can happen.

Coach Derek Dooley called out the players and called out the staff about staying mentally tough and carrying the fight the whole way. I see a bright future coming the rest of this season, as well as for this week's game. The players have to learn to stay jacked for all sixty minutes.

Look at what Tennessee did against Oregon, they came out, they hit them in mouth and were beating up the number seven team in the nation and then they quit. I believe the lesson will be learned this week in practice and they will come out swinging, only this time, not to quit. Florida on the other hand has not really been "picking it up" until late game situations or after the first half whistle. They've had continuous problems with Pouncey getting the snap off to Brantley, receivers dropping balls and well, getting played fairly well by two under the radar teams. If the Vols can come out and put extreme pressure on Florida to start off Saturday, we could see them up 14 or 21-0. Pressure Pouncey up front, cause him to make mistakes. Put a blanket over the receivers, make a young, inexperienced Brantley run for his life. The main key to slowing down their offense is going to be putting the brakes on Demps which I believe the Big Orange D can handle that task.

Tennessee will bring all they got this game, and they'll leave it all out on the field. Look for a new mentally tough team to come roaring out of the tunnel Saturday and ready to turn the college football world upside down with an upset. The Gators better be ready for a fight and better not think for one second that they are going to waltz into Neyland and put a blowout up.

GO VOLS

My brain tells me we don't have the depth or near enough experience to take on the gators. However, in my heart I truly believe we can beat them.

Well, let's put it this way, it's sort of a must win situation because if we don't win, you know your gonna hear this crap. "Oh my God, Dooley needs to go", or "Jesus, I'm jumping ship", or "Start Tyler Bray now". Of course I'm referring to the NEGAVOLS

I wish I shared your optimism. Whatever you've seen that makes you think we can handle Demps, I haven't seen. As far as putting pressure on Brantley, that seems possible. Oregon's O-line was small but they played well and Brantley isn't as mobile as the QB we faced last week.

I agree completely that getting off to a fast start is crucial, but 1) it's easier said than done, and 2) I'm not sure why we can expect to convert early possessions/mistakes for touchdowns against Florida when we weren't particularly close to doing it against Oregon.

This is mostly obvious, but when we catch breaks we have to put up 7, not 3. We need to avoid ANY situation in which Simms has to bring us back from 9+ points down by throwing the ball.

I think our best chance to win involves using Poole or Stocker to exploit Florida's LBs (which are either talented or experienced but not really both) while hoping that Demps has a subpar game so that he doesn't gash us for big plays that take the crowd out of the equation.

Your optimism will grow once you get

You people are really becoming delusional if you think Tennessee has any advantage, in any department, and a shot at winning this game. Wake up! It's not being negative if you're telling the truth, but you know, some people can't handle the truth and that's obviously Tennessee fans these days.

It's going to be a massacre.

When that 1st half team can go 60 minutes we may challenge the Gators, will it be this saturday? Depends on how deep coach DD put his boot in their arse and are they mature enough to accept the discipline.

I truly believe CDD will have beat all the quit out of the team this week in practice. He was pissed about how they gave up in the 4th quarter against OU. We very well may get beat, BUT, I dont think we will get steamrolled and I think we will play a full four quarters. GBO!

What truth is that? That the best team always wins? I guess we shouldn't ever root for upsets or cheer for our team even when they're down then.

VolNation would be a great reference for a Sociology study. Some fans practice self-preservation. Some fans live or die with every play. Many fans (these days) are somewhere in-between.

I think we win Saturday. I was as frustrated as the next Vol fan to see our lack of effort in the second half against Oregon. However, this is a new staff with new expectations and, as with anying new, it takes time to set a tone of what will be acceptable and what will not. CDD has made VERY clear in his comments the past couple of days that what transpired Saturday is unacceptable and I feel our guys will take this opportunity to redeem themselves and their character.

I believe in this team, it's coaches, and it's players, and can't wait to see us play. Im flying in from California for the game and am confident this will measure up to one of those games I'll remember for years.

Go Big Orange!!!!

Look, you gotta believe we have a shot at winning, hope is about the only thing this team has going for it, with the exception of Poole.

I agree. I think that you'll remember this game. I just think that in the future you would be happier if you could actually forget it.
