Yeah, if the list was for Top 10 Schools With Pretentious Trust Fund Douchebags Accounting For 80+% Of The Student Body.

isn't that what makes a party school, a party school???

kids spending their parents money getting wasted, while thinking they can skirt around classes...?

You guys do know that they do these rankings by number of alcohol related arrest in a year. Not very scientific. We were #1 a few years back. Just shows which Campus PD's are cracking down the most.

No, what makes a party school good is real people charging their buddies $5 for a Dixie cup to pay for the kegs of Natty Light or Busch they put on the front porch of the ratty house they are living in around their campus, for example, Fort Sanders. It isn't a bunch of Spauldings and Muffys sitting around drinking the chic mocrobrew du jour planning their next skiing trip.

Nice Spaulding reference.

I know what you're saying, just adding 2 cents. I too lived in the Fort, in a crappy house ,and drank ****** beer from our own keg parties.

In full disclosure, I sure do like 90 Schilling and Fat Tire (two more well known "chic Colorado microbrews). Although the uber-heddy, brah at CU might rag me for liking Fat Tire.

Fat Tire isn't bad. Not one of my favorites, but not bad.

Quote from UF administrative office as to why the school is ranked No. 1. Excellence in athletics.

A university spokesman said the party school reputation comes from the school's athletic successes. The Gators won two national basketball championships in 2006 and 2007 and one national football title at the end of the 2006 season.

Fat Tire is a little on the sweet side for my tastes.

I'll add a wee bit....The "trustafarians" that get their parents to buy them and transform a schoolbus to go on tour with jam bands....bearded, dirty hippy wannabes wearing Nordic, NorthFace and Mountain Hardware parkas.......not carrying wallets, id, ssn, etc...only an atm card.....

What do you do in Iowa?

Pick corn for fun?

Having been raised in Iowa City, I can tell you what one does for fun...

DRINK BEER!!

Downtown Iowa City is adjacent to the Liberal Arts campus of the U if I. When I was a kid, there were all types of businesses downtown- restaurants, law firms, flower shops, clothing stores, banks, and a few bars. Now, downtown Iowa City is nothing but banks, restaurants, bars, hotels with lounges, pool halls, clubs, bars, bars, bars, clubs, and the public library.

Thursday night is the kickoff for the weekend. Free beer with $5 cover vs. dime draws vs. $1 bottled domestics on the College St. pedestrian mall. Cheap drink abound. Wandering drunk students everywhere.

Iowa City is where I developed my love of college football, hence my monicker. I used to collect beer cans in and around Kinnick stadium for the the 5 cent deposit per can. I'd make $25- $30 bucks and usually gain entrance to the games wither by sneaking in or being let in by the rubber- gunners. On several occasions dejected scalpers would gave me tickets for free just after kick off, which I would turn around and sell to the next black and gold drunkard to stumble by. I still follow the hawks and catch a game when I can.

If you ever get the chance, you should take in an Iowa game and party in Iowa City. It aint the SEC, but it's a blast. Really, there is nothing to do in Iowa City BUT party...

...which is how I ended up at Tennessee!

A few years back ('04) I went back to IC to visit my folks. My brothers and I went to Carlos O'Kelly's to take in the Kirk Ferrentz show one Wednesday night. We managed to get a booth about 10 feet from CKF. The whole restaurant was decked out in black and gold except yours truly sporting the orange and white! You should have seen the look on Ferrentz's face... Priceless! If I'm not mistaken, that was the Iowa/Iowa State week, too.
