LA Floppers...Flop of the Night: The Clippers! - TrueHoop Blog - ESPN
I don't think the Evans flop is all that terrible, as it kinda looks like Gasol gives him a pretty good forearm to the chest. Still a flop, though. CP3's flop is all kinds of bad, though, as he wasn't even physically contacted.
I blame the refs. They reward flopping. What else are the players going to do? If an offensive player commits a charge, but the defensive player doesn't go to the ground, it gets called maybe 5% of the time. It has become this charade where you have to throw yourself on the ground. Now that everyone is acting to some degree, it's hard to detect the phonies in real time and we end up with a lot of bad calls.
They need to start calling fouls when they are committed and the victim doesn't hit the hardwood. They need to call flops technical fouls. They need to continue to fine for them (and be more liberal about what they fine). That's how Silver can take the game back.
Like Max Kellerman said, have a dude just watching for flops. If someone flops make them sit a couple minutes, or immediately give them the foul. Making them pay a fine is a joke.
