A) I didn't realize that about Banks. If true, that changes my stance on Willie.

Why would you say my high school recruiting expectations are absurd? We recruit at an elite level at every other position (#1 QB, #1 WR, #1 OT Multiple 5 star DL, top 50 LBs). Can you at least concede that our HS recruiting lags behind every other position? Maybe Willie shouldn't be fired but we are simply recruiting a better caliber of player from the High School level at every other positon.
It’s absurd because it doesn’t matter where the talent comes from as long as you have it on your team. Would you rather have had a high school recruit than Jermod McCoy last year? Or instead of Colton Hood this year?

The thing many fans don’t understand about positional recruiting is that this is like the NFL now. Certain positions will be allocated more money. And certain positions will be prioritize more in the portal versus from high school. For example, this staff has not prioritized spending a lot of money on safeties. We can disagree with that (I do, at least to an extent), but it is what it is.

So if one coach is coaching a position where they prioritize spending on guys from high school (WR, for example), and another coach is coaching a position where portal spending is more prioritized (CB and OL, for example), and another coach is coaching a position that just isn’t going to get as much money spent as the others (S, for example), those are factors other than the coaches’ respective recruiting ability at play.

The fact of the matter is, Willie has produced very good cornerbacks. The fact that the top two were injured for the season this year (before halftime of game 1) was a very bad break, both for him and for the team. But it doesn’t matter where they came from. What matters is that he develops the ones he has.

Ty has had freshman moments, and low effort moments. He's also shown signs of playing elite ball down the line. He's going to be very good for us.
I haven’t seen low effort moments (doesn’t mean he hasn’t had them) but what I saw was freshman confusion at times. It happens especially when offensive coordinators are targeting you.

"I am feeling great about this hire because we have the same mentality. He is a winner. I still feel locked in with Tennessee at this point in my recruitment. I can’t wait to start building a relationship with Coach Knowles soon," the Tennessee Vols defensive back commit in the 2027 class stated about the newest Tennessee defensive staff hire, with Knowles becoming the new defensive coordinator for the Vols.

“Florida is in the lead,” he said. “Coach Sumrall and coach Collins make me feel like I’m at home. There’s a new energy there, and they have a plan to win. My time there last month showed me a lot. Coach Sumrall is showing me he really wants me.” -- c.simmons

We didn't have a plan to win? I guess the plan worked against Florida the last couple of years 🤷

There’s so much talent at that position this year in HS. There theres the portal if we need that.

I mean we just pulled a 3 year starter at Auburn to come play for us.
