We've held 2-score leads five times in the past 2 years, and managed to lose... I don't get it... thoughts?

I'm conservative, but Butch is way to conservative to coach football. Perfect example, at the 1 yd vs Oklahoma kicking a FG instead of going for a TD.

Last year our primary issue was lack of depth on the defense. We played a ton of FR on D-Line and didn't have quality depth to properly rotate. At the end of the game, the team is gassed and can't get a rush on the QB. Add conservative play calling and there you have it. The Vandy game was all about our pitiful defense. It's the 3rd week in a row we've made mediocre offenses look like the best offense in college football. Saturday, we made an average QB look like Tom Brady.

So you're good conservative vs him being bad conservative?

Conservative by nature means to execute a plan with minimal risk.

He has been coaching college football for 10 years and getting
paid for it. How can you determine he shouldn't be coaching college football after he's been coaching college football as a livelihood?

Stop talking out your ass.

Remember Ryan Leaf? He was the second overall draft choice and handed multi- millions to play football. It was also his livelihood. He wasn't good at his livelihood either.

Our depth wasn't the issue. We had 4 teams beat with MINUTES left but because Botch doesn't know how to manage a game, we lost. He's incapable of putting together a FULL 60 minute game plan.

I'm not saying there haven't been questionable decisions, but if you can't recognize the depth issues we had on D last year then you don't understand football.

Have you ever played when you were so physically tired you can't think straight much less perform. That's where we were a lot of times last year. Particularly with the D-line against teams like OK when they chased Mayfield all over the field the whole game. Our D-line is in a similar position this year due to injuries. However, we have a lot more going on with the D this year than injuries. We are just plain inept on D.

I now reside in the Mid-West(Ohio) and outside of Tennessee football watch a ton of Big10 football.

Michigan and Penn State have went through some pretty tough times with coaching and the obvious at PSU. Both those coaches are in year 2/3? Neither of them seem to have these "Depth" issues we have EVERY year. I understand Doolander left the cupboard a little bare but year 3 & 4 Botch has shown he just is not a SEC coach, Heck IMO he's not even worthy of being a HC period.

you're being kind in describing him as average. the last 3 weeks qb's have had career days against our defense.

Vandy was the worst offense in the SEC.

first time since 1971 they scored that many points in an SEC game. i wasn't even born at that point.

this is an all time low for our defense.

Here is some more perspective:

1. We were previously 38-0 when we were ranked and Vandy wasn't.

2. First time since 1926 that we've won 8 games and lost to Vandy

3. That's the most points Vandy has scored against an SEC team since 1971

4. We gave up 45 points to the 115th ranked team in offense out of 128
