I see 9-10 wins. We hung pretty well with GA and SC and Im not as worried about them as much as some of y'all are. We could have just as easily beat them with Hunter. Fla game may have been different too. Not to mention we'll have different D coord calling plays. Wilcox was way too conservative and not as aggressive as we should have been. If you only expect 7 wins this yr your selling them short and going to be very surprised. I am disappointed to hear people say drop the ok game too. I say bring it on. Were Volunteers and don't run from anyone. Most guys have 2 yrs under their belt already and that's going to pay off too

The state of the program for the next 3,4,and maybe even 5 years will be determined by how many wins he gets this season.
we cant afford to let alot of these '13 recruits to go out of state, and i fear a new coach at the end of the season will let that happen.

List the teams that you think should beat UT this year. IMO, there are two on paper (UGA, Bama)... but I am not a believer in UGA. I would say that UF and USCe are more in the toss up category right now. Eight are "should wins".

UGA, Bama, USCe, should beat UT. Florida & Miss State will likely be favored to beat UT. True toss-up game right now is Mizzou.

Sc at their house will be tough. MSU will likely be favored by 3 but I think we pull it out

Its sad that we as a fan base are afraid to accept the fact that we should be good again. Dool-ites are afraid to say it because if it doesnt happen, they know who gets the blame. Negavols are afraid to admit it because they know who gets the credit.

We should be a good football team this year. Dooley has had plenty of valid excuses in the past as to why we havent won more games (except KY) but the excuses need to stop. DD has built this team into a contender, congrats to him, now he has to show that he can coach. Regardless of your feelings towards Dooley, its time we start winning. Not next year or the year after, NOW.

Solid and accurate post.

2012 has always been the year to determine TN's future under Dooley. Anything less than 10-2 will be disappointing, anything less than 9-3 will be a failure. I believe with some luck this team could be in Atlanta at seasons end.

Sorry guys but We should only get beat by Bama, and Georgia. We should beat the others and there's about 5 blowouts that will happen.Nc state will be one of them.Matter of fact I hope We get killed by Bama cause when We meet them in Atlanta We will be going for blood. That's right I said it .SEC championship game as long as Georgia can get beat twice.I don't drink koolaide boys .It's our time now .We've been waiting don't let it pass you by before realizing its here.We all are to use to losing to notice that We are back and the new staff is all We needed to do it.West coast boys are exactly that.We have coaches now that know what's up.You can see it written all over SS face and Those recruits who backed out on us over the last two years its coming back around in your face starting in Atlanta .Big orange pride forever.Time to wake up guys .

I hate to put a number out there but if I had to, I'd say

8-4 = somewhat disappointing,
9-3 = somewhat expected
10-2 = somewhat over achieved
11-1 = very unlikely, but possible
12-0 = PRICELESS!

Dooley will win enough games to stay. It's a decent schedule and he has a staff on multi-year contracts.

He's at UT at least two years.

If he wins 8, expect to see him at least two more after this season.

The mark of a good or at least decent coach would be to go 9-3 next year with what's coming back and evaluating the eastern division. If he can't win 9 games next year then when will he ever?

when you play as many underclassmen as we did and have questions at safety you have to play conservative.

Thats what I'm saying. There should be significant improvement in a coaches third year with a team. I'm not delusional I dont think we are amazing, but we have a good team that can compete in the East. The only reason some people expect so little of this team is because Dooley has the bar set so low already. Significant improvement is 7 wins for him. I don't think thats enough. Get Volnation 8 or 9 and I'll defend him.

I don't think another 0 for October is acceptable. I don't really care what the bottom line number is for Dooley. I want to see signature wins. He needs to beat good teams in the SEC. Take 2 of 3 from UGA, USC, UF.

I'm sick and tired of getting thumped by florida every year. I hope we destroy them in Neyland, I hope we make them cry. Seems pretty characteristic of UF thanks to meyer and tebow, anyway.

We could of and should of won 7 games last year, if it wasn't for all the injuries... So 7 games to me isn't really an improvement... I'm saying 9 wins this year is an improvement.

That's not a good enough excuse. If your going to go down, go down swinging. Look back to Bama and LSU games. When we we're attacking there was hope. Then look at Ga game they ran it down our throat. Even went for it on 4th a few times . I think we played Ga soft both ways. Our team was young, but very capable of being more aggressive if put in the position. His D scheme showed fear. More times than not they were way too spread out. Of course our opponents attacked it and made us look weaker than we were. That SC game was crappy. Garcia ran all over us as did Ky. Bet it won't happen this yr. Not those types of plays. Its time. Hell it's been time. I have faith this yr. If o can stay healthy and SS pans out the way I expect him to, we will be in SECCG. Yall are hyping Ga up too much. Give them our schedule from this past season and they couldn't do better besides against ky. Think DD said something along the lines of certain people not knowing how things work in the sec and how tough it is each week. I believe he was talking about Wilcox. We got us an Italian mobster running the d now lulz

Is anyone else tired of hearing that Dooley has got to win x number of games to keep his job? The AD has already said that there is no x number of games he must win...He just expects to see improvement! Let this stuff rest for a while!
