This will be my first year going to the games as a non student. While I was in college, we always hung out at someones apartment, so I never did the tailgating thing. This year I'm going to be traveling to Knoxville from Chattanooga, so I'm looking for someone to tailgate with. What is the proper tailgate etiquette? What sort of things do people bring? What sort of things should I bring? Can't really bring a lot cause I don't think it will keep traveling the 1 1/2-2 hour trip. What are the best areas to tailgate at? I would appreciate any tips or info! Thanks so much!!

GO VOLS!!!

I live in Maine right now, so won't be going to the game this week, but may make it to Auburn or Georgia in October. Before this I'm from Chattanooga and would go to at least one game a year. I try to park close to the Interestate, and then walk in. This way when I decide to leave K-town, it's not a long wait. I wish I could give you an exit number, but it's sorta second nature to me now, and so I don't remember. As for meeting folks, if you can't hook up with somebody before, just go up to folks as you're walking toward Neyland and ask for directions, the time, or tickets. Almost everybody will talk to you (we're a friendly bunch), start a conversation (about Kiffin, Crompton, or Brown), and you'll likely meet many folks from the Scenic City. Good luck!

Going to be honest here: If you're good looking girl, you won't need to bring a thing. Just walk around and find a tailgate with a bunch of guys around your age and explain that you have no one to tailgate with.

The rest should take care of itself. I say this in all seriousness.

Otherwise wade through the traffic toward the stadium find a good place to park and bring plenty of beer in a cooler. Set up shop: Then follow previous tactic with a question to nearest, somewhat interesting folks. Ask folks if they need any beer (this always makes people smile) and pretty soon you'll have more friends than you ever imagined.
