Besides whores and blow, what are some suggestions for a first visit to Vegas?

Going to do the Grand Canyon, and might check out Death Valley, but the rest of the trip will be in Vegas.

Staying at the New York New York Hotel and Casino. Good or bad?

Thanks for any info.
you're not in starkville any more

My suggestion is to stay downtown. I love the Golden Nugget. The whole Freemont St thing is a gas, the slots are looser and the dealers are way friendlier - most even speak english. I can totally live without the Strip.

If your wife is of the appropriate age, Menopause the Musical is a hilarious show.

Have a great trip and good luck!

It's "hookers and blow". I have no advice, just wanted to set that straight 🤣

Just so you’re aware the Grand Canyon is over four hours from Vegas. You might consider getting a hotel in Williams one night to hit it early before every tour bus in America shows up. If you’re going to hike down into it plan to take at least a quart of water per person per hour. You don’t sweat out there, it just evaporates so it can be hard to gauge how much water you’re losing.

2 years ago we went from Vegas to the Grand Canyon Skywalk on the W. Rim and it was a little over 2 hours.

OP, the Skywalk is cool. The helicopter ride to the bottom is worth it. The wind!!!!

Other cool things we did: Zak Bagans Haunted Museum, The Beatles Love Show, Dinner at the Eiffel Tower Rest. at Paris overlooking the Bellagio. We got a window table so we could watch the water show.

Taking a little different approach in answering your question....great sunglasses and eye drops. Oh...and a couple of good UT hats would be of help, too.

Vegas??? LOL, use to go there on business once or twice a year. For me my favorites were hiking red rock canyon (Ice box canyon trail was nice), also lots of very good art you can typically see for free. I'd recommend finding a very nice restaurant at least once.... It will be spendy, but if you like having some of the very best food in this country Vegas has it. I hated the hotel food that a lot of places provide for "free". I'm not a gambler so slots and tables were not my thing. For me the best time to go to Vegas is during March Madness.... You just can't beat the sport bars!!!

I use to stay at the Four Seasons or Bellagio

Vegas really depends on your budget.

freemont street. find a reliable place for cheap bloody mary's. a cool dark mexican joint usually does the trick. i believe weed is legal now, not sure of the rules, but i would look into it. .

I saw this on a Tiktok, and it’s worth a shot. Hit the big casinos and get one of their free players club cards. Put $100 in a machine and play for a bit, cash out whenever you feel like it. Repeat this at the other big casinos. They’ll send you mailers once you’re back home offering you incentives to come back, making any subsequent trip cheaper for you.
