First time to Knoxville.

Was announced some time ago a noon kickoff and on SEC Network. Coming hurricane will keep me locked away from Knoxville. Gus Good Time Deli is a legendary foodie stop. Go there Friday when you get in.

If you want a cool atmosphere with great BBQ, go to Sweet Ps downtown on Jackson Ave after the game. Saturday's specials are bbq tailgate tacos, half price smoked wings (they have a few flavors to choose from, 6 wings $3.50, 12 for 7$ and so on) and all Tennessee beers are half price as well on game days. They have a cool beer garden on top of the building with corn hole boards and free parking across the street, also very close to Old City and free parking where you can ride Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) buses almost right up to the stadium and drop you back off after the game for 10$ round trip. I did this yesterday for ETSU and it was fantastic. I do agree too with Gus Good Times Deli, it's very good. Barleys Taproom in old city has about 50 taps and 1.50$ off all of them on Saturday's, and their pizza is very solid. Calhouns is all about location and scenery and while I think just a tad bit overpriced, is still always good food and fun. Any other questions feel free to ask. Im a certified VOL know it all! Haha jk.

I googled it an got 12:00. Couldn’t get a link.
I've googled it and clicked link after link all I see is 9/22/18 TBD. As I'm driving in from 6 hours away I'm hoping to God it's a 7:30 game not noon.

Not to mention I want my first game at Neyland to be a night game, and I'm bringing my son and one of his friends for his birthday so I'd rather them enjoy the game and not be killed by the mid day heat

I want to know where somebody is seeing that we have a noon kickoff.. I'm 99% sure that game times are not released until around noon tomorrow.
If he’s coming for UTEP that got set in like July and it’s a nooner. UF will be announced sometime tmr.

Yeah I absolutely cant wait especially after watching florida last night I feel like our chances to win are alot higher than they were when I bought the tickets. I'm hoping it's a night game with a amazing environment to burn this memory into his mind for the rest of his life. (He's 10 so a real good chance he can keep vivid memories of this forever)

I am guessing, I guess. I am basing it off what U-Verse has scheduled next week.

I went to the game this past week with a friend of mine. We ate at Sweet P’s and it was delicious. I have eaten at Calhoun’s on a previous trip and it was good. The Vol Walk is a must. It goes 2 hrs and 45 mins before kickoff. That, the salute to hill, the Vol Navy, and Calhoun’s are all right there together at the stadium.

I have to ask. Why do people keep saying "pay these prices and pay no more"?

It's a Neyland Stadium tradition. Before the game, the announcer tells where you can find the prices and asks you to pay these prices and please pay no more. It goes back to the days when most vending was done by kids carrying around cokes, hotdogs, crackerjacks, etc and they would sometimes try to get one over on a visiting opposing fan (or even a visiting home fan).

Anyway, it is a well loved tradition where it is still said, and many fans will chime in and say the phrase with the announcer.

Thank you. Would you say its better to do the Vol walk or tailgate? Really want to check out the Vol Navy, but doing everything may be difficult as kickoff is at 11 am.
For a 12 Nooner with family would arrive early and do a breakfast tailgate (Maybe park on Cumberland Krystals or up by fraternity row around 7 AM with a portable battery digital antenna//computer tv set up (buy before you go) Livestream the pre game Gameday shows) with some Irish Coffees and Bloody Mary's for those that partake. You could then head over hang at Volunteer village for a little while or straight to the Vol Walk and Pride of the Southland entrance Go to the game and then hit Calhoun's and Market Square after the game

Gus' Good Time Deli was the first Reuben I ever ate. I've never found a substitute, but I am still addicted to that sandwich. And Gus' is still the benchmark, although I haven't been to Knoxville much since my grandparents died. So I am way overdue a Reuben. The Vol history around on the walls is as interesting as the food is good.

Depending on game time and how many days you are staying will determine a lot. For example, yesterday my wife and I parked on Jackson next to The Standard. We walked down to Post Modern Spirits in the Old City. Had a drink. We then walked around the Old City, back up to the 100 block of Gay Street. Then down to Market Square, making little pit stops along the way (usually to have a beverage). We passed a ton of restaurants I'd highly recommend.
You now have a fluid connection with downtown and the Old city. Downtown is connected to the World's Fair Park and this is connected to the riverfront and campus. If you don't mind some hiking, you can make a day of bar hopping and site seeing. We even have a member here that owns or works for Pace, which is a bike rental service downtown.
