Going down for the UC game. Any suggestions on bars/clubs to visit the night before gameday?

I'll be parking in AG campus handicap lot. When I inquired about tailgating there, a rep from UT parking services said " The University of Tennessee is a dry campus." I find that hard to believe that the big donors that pay to park in stadium lots do not tailgate. Do I have to park in a non campus lot to tailgate? Any help would be appreciated.

It is a dry campus, however bring red cups and be discrete and you'll be fine. You can tailgate in campus. Cops will not mess with you unless you are waiving bottles in their faces being idiots

Can anyone tell me if there are any bars near the hotel where I am staying which is the Red Roof Inn on Central ave pike? Is Patrick Sullivan's in Old City still open? How far away are Old City and Market square from my hotel? I plan on post gaming at the strip but want to work my way back closer to home base after a few.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd highly recommend Downtown Grill and Brewery.

Bar Knox (or whatever it's called now). Wear your helmet and battle rattle.

No, seriously, Downtown Grill and Brewery on Gay Street (yes, that's really the name), Barleys in the Old City, and Half Barrel on the Strip are all must do's. I would recommend saving Half Barrel (and anything else on the Strip for that matter) as the nightcap after Tennessee wins. The Strip is usually banging after home games. Have fun.....!

If you're looking for an easy score with a hot babe, try The Carousel. Tons of hot chicks!

Patrick Sullivans is still open. It's a cool chill spot. On Market Square, check out Preservation Pub--they just opened up the rooftop--great place for live music and drinks; also on the Square is Lattitude....great place and make sure you go downstairs once there.

Your hotel is far enough north that you're unfortunately going to have to deal with a drive at the end of the evening, so plan accordingly. And keep in mind that Knoxville is a horrible town for catching a cab. Best bet's just to be the drunkest one in your group and let somebody else deal with it.

I've got a parking pass for G6 garage. Can anyone tell me if this is a place we can tailgate from? We have never been to Neyland Stadium. Where's a good place to tailgate?

Your hotel is just about 10=15 minutes from the Old City. The exit off I-75 is Merchant's Drive, and your hotel is a block from the intersection of Central Ave. Pike, Merchants Dr. and Cedar Lane. Withing a block or two in all directions of that intersection, there are numerous places to eat/drink. Puleo's Grille is a local restaurant and probably has the best food in that general area. There are other chains, like Outback, Red Lobster, etc. and the usual fast food stuff, and a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. About a mile from your hotel, on Clinton Hwy, is a casual spot called Cheddar's that is good. And, if you feel adventurous enough to drive for a really good burger, you can take Cedar Lane for a few miles to the intersection with Broadway and dine at Litton's. For a drink, there is Steak and Lube, Hooters, O'Charley's, among others.

There was an article in the paper a few weeks back about it closing. Did it reopen?

I think C6 is underground. As far as tailgating...yes. You'll find tailgating going on in any of the permit lots.

Some tailgating in the garage. A lot up high. Keep circling until you see the daylight and you'll have lots of company.

Thanks for the help. I hate to have to pay to park, when I already have a pass. But if we can't tailgate in there, I want to find a good spot. Ive read that Calhouns, Fraternity Row, and parking areas around Walgreens are good places to tailgate. How early do you need to arrive to get a good place?

Just a btw, Bar Knox is gone now. It's "Rumorz." Haven't been there since it reopened... don't really plan on it.
