I know everyone is anxious to talk about ND, but we can't look past SC. I don't think SC has the athletes to compete against our secondary (even w/o Allen) -- and SC's defense has more holes than swiss cheese. Is there any chance this game goes to the Fourth Quarter still in doubt??? :(

Hate to bring this up, but they took Georgia to the brink.

that had fluke written all over it.

i think that we easily handle them and *gasp* put up 35 pts on them.

then everyone goes crazy about "finding" an offense. fulmer gets the praise, then notre dame squashes us.

im fron columbia and everyone is quaking in their boots. they all know good and well what our offense is capable of against a soft defense. but for sure they score less than against our defense. COCK AND MISFIRE

We will beat South Carolina by a couple of TD's. I think our offense played very well against bama considering they have one of the best D's in the nation. We had the ball inside the 15 3 different times and should have scored. We will kill them in field position which will translate into a big win.

I think in this game we will see how good our secondary is without Allen. SOS is going to be working them all day long.

We may see some strange things out of SOS for this one.

I was at their opener against UCF. They ran everything from the I formation to that goofy Emory and Henry formation where the offensive tackles are split out 20 yards off the ball.

I know a guy whos father was the QB for Emory when that play was born. I can't remember the name of it though.

FULMER TIED WITH SPURRIER FOR NINTH ON SEC'S ALL-TIME WINS LIST
Phillip Fulmer's 126 head coaching victories put him in ninth place on the Southeastern Conference's all-time wins list, placing him in a tie with South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier and making the pair the only active head coaches in the league's all-time top 10.

Just a little something to make it that much more interesting. :biggrin2:

I don't know if it was a gimmick or not, but SC was using that formation exclusively when they punted and it worked extremely well. It basically gave them 4 gunners running down the field to cover punts.

Do they still let their defensive linemen stand and move around before the snap? That D had gimmick written all over it, and I doubt we'll see it this weekend.

As far as our O goes, I think the running game alone is capable of putting up 21. I don't know how many the passing game will put up.

It was funny on opening night because they came out on their first defensive play with no down linemen and the crowd went wild. Then little Central Florida started ramming the ball down their throat. I think they learned really fast about the merits of the four point stance.

Everybody needs to be really LOUD Sat night.I know the players are a little down this week and the crowd needs to be very loud to help fire them up.

What happens if we score a Touchdown???? I dont think our team could handle the excitement of getting their first touchdown in 3 weeks....

I'm not saying Carolina will win, but remember these two words - Sidney Rice. The guy is an outstanding receiver with great hands and he's tall with good leaping ability. I agree with the swiss cheese defense analogy, however SC has a few good receivers to watch out for. :twocents:

Sidney Rice came up big against Vandy, and he'll play an even bigger role now that Syvelle Newton is out for the season. SC looks like a poor man's Florida from 5 years ago, but without much of a running game.

I don't think the game will go to the 4th in doubt of who will win but I do think they will keep it close at the start of the game......and we will some how manage to pull away in the closing stages....SPurrier will bring out all the stops for this game just because its us, I gurantee you he's had this game circled since he's been at USC.....I do agree with those that say we'll see some things that we've never seen before from Spurrier....Like freak mentioned, an onside kick to start the game...Maybe some reverses and trick pass plays? Who knows what we'll see this weekend, but there is no doubt in my mind that we will win this game

No doubt you guys will kill SC. I think this will be a good weekend for UT to get it's offense going against that poor excuse for a D they have. All that jumping around leaves them out of position and the run is open up the middle.

I think we'll probably be able to overwhelm them with pressure on defense....It just remains to be seen what happens on offense. I hope we see more of the same power running game from last week when we went back to using tight ends and a fullback.

That defensive set is called "Prowler", and I remember Chavis using it on occasion, but you have to have dominant DT's to pull it off. Last time UT used it extensively was in '01 with Fat Albert Haynesworth and Big John Henderson.
