First Round Wrapup

If Arkansas makes a change, they really need to be honest with themselves about the status of their job. Given the acrimonious way Nolan exited, the job isn't held in near as high regard in the coaching community as some in the Arkansas administration might think. No successful coach in a BCS conference is going to pack up and head to Fayetteville.

Broyles may not have the AD title anymore, but he is running the show until they put him in the ground.

Broyles is AD until December

John White is the Chancellor. He's the one man committee looking for Broyles replacement, and maybe a new BB coach

Again, I could care less what the administration in Fayetteville says for public consumption. The old, bulbous nosed goof will continue running Arkansas athletics into the ground until he ceases to draw breath.

1. If Arkansas doesn't fire Stan Heath, they're making a big mistake. When your team quits on you in an NCAA tournament game, you need to be gone. 2. I guess the delusional nimrods in Lexington will take credit for UK's victory. They'll say the pressure they are putting on Tubby got the team going in the right direction. 3. On a related note, UK will give Kansas all they want Sunday. The Jayhawks won't intimidate them one bit. 4. Arizona should be embarassed. However, given their lack of pride and intestinal fortitude, I'm sure they aren't bothered at all. 5. Tennessee-Virginia will be another game played at warp speed. The shot clock may not get below 25 seconds all game. 6. Winthrop has a real shot to advance. Oregon isn't anything special. 7. Wisconsin is done. UNLV should take them out Sunday. 8. Tim Floyd isn't getting near the credit he should for what SC is doing. That is a program on the fast track. 9. Virginia Tech-Southern Illinois will be one of the ugliest games in tournament history. First team to 40 wins. 10. Florida will annihilate Purdue. The talent disparity in that game in excessive.

1. Arkansas is a more talented team than 7-9 SEC and a bad loss in the first round of the NCAA. I attributed some of the conference record to sporting a freshman point, but the post-season egg they laid probably points more in the direction of coaching and motivation.

2 & 3. The delusional nimrods in Lexington take credit for anything good and cast blame for anything bad. Kentucky is a physical team with talent but aren't offensively potent enough to hang with Kansas all night. I expect a close game for most with KU pulling away at the end.

8. Floyd was a top name coach who seemed to be forgotten for a few years. I'm not surprised to see him flourishing in LA.

10. Florida is good enough when playing well to annihilate anybody.

1. Scott Sutton is the coach at Oral Roberts. Sean Sutton is the coach at Oklahoma State. 2. As long as Frank Broyles is alive, I have a better chance of coaching Arkansas than Mike Anderson.

I had forgotten about his history with Nolan.

Well, I, too, expected a fast-paced game with UT/UVA, but clearly Virginia's game plan involved NOT getting into a track meet with UT - a wise move, and it almost worked out for them. Almost. I was actually most impressed with UVA's interior defense: they did a very nice job, I thought, shutting down dribble penetration. Few open lanes for Ramar and Lofton to take. They certainly made UT work for every point this afternoon.

Agree with all other points, Hat, except I'm smelling a Kansas blowout. 20 points or more. It may be close at halftime, but Kansas has far too weapons for even a good defensive team like UK to handle. I also expect a complete fold job by UK once the game gets out of reach. They got past Villanova (overseeded at 9), and Tubby's job is safe for one more year, it would seem, regardless of what happens later today.
