First order of business will be to make a good first impression with the fanbase on Monday. Plenty of division out there with this hire and much uncertainty to go along with it.
A strong presentation, both during the speech and in answering questions from the media, will do much to heal divisions. You don't want resistance from behind. You don't want to see, read, or listen to different segments of the fanbase talking about your ability to do the job.
I think he needs to do three things:
1. Introduce himself.
2. Lay out his plan for the future of Tennessee football.
3. Come out forcefully when he gets the inevitable questions about his Oakland experience.
If he impresses the fans as much as he's obviously impressed the Powers-That-Be, then
he'll be getting a wave of momentum at his back that he can harness and use during the recruiting process.
