First impressions from Kiffin's press conference… Writing this as the press conference is on, so it may be a little jumbled... at least until my feed went dead.

Most impressive. I’ve read that this was the job that he really wanted. He could’ve gone to Clemson or Washington, and maybe he could’ve waited for ND to open up. However, add in today’s press conference, and I really believe that this job was one that he really saw as a great opportunity for the tradition and the chance to take this program to the top.

The fact that he isn’t shying away from the pressure of this job is great, and he seems to understand how much this football program means to the state of Tennessee. He also doesn’t seem to be a Nick Saban/job jumper type. He also comes across as someone who will really be able to sell the program to recruits. He also mentioned that he sees himself as a better fit for the college game. NOT GOING BACK TO NFL because of WHAT HE THINKS OF TENN!

Physical = Tenn Football.
Speed = SEC football.

Only thing that makes me slightly nervous is that he’ll call his own plays, but that may be from being set in my ways and used to Fulmer delegating that to an offensive coordinator.

He is extremely well spoken, and the way he showed respect to Coach Fulmer, Chavis, and the others is very reassuring.

Gotta love the awkward smiles from Lane, Hamilton and Peterson. At least the wife knows how to smile, even though it would appear she has no idea what is going on.

I second the man crush. He said all the right things and wants nothing to do with rebuilding. Said we have everything already in place to be competitive now. And when asked about Berry on offense, whatever it takes to win, whoever can do that gets to play where they are best.

I was impressed. Have or had a lot of reservations about the hire but I gotta say I feel a whole lot better now.

I was very impressed. Sounds like we finally have a coach that can jab back. Can't wait 'til next year!

some others knocked it but I think he did an admirable job at making sure they were discussed.

This guy knows his sh*#!!! Extremely well spoken. But talking and walking are two different monsters. He has the background, but not the experience. Having said that, I think its his time to shine as a coach. He's paid his dues, and is ready for the big time that is SEC FOOTBALL!!! I cant wait to see our recruiting class the next 5 years! Im so pumped about next season!!!

Though I was a skeptic coming into the press conference, I think Kiffin definitly just hit a home run with it and I am loving the initial direction of the program. Really excited about next season.

All open positions at spring ball. awesome. Freshmen get a fair chance. sweet. He seems to have a real drive to get the best possible players and make them earn it. Hopefully that equals WINS.

Yeah - My only criticism thus far is that he unnecessarily bashed the raiders organization. It was funny but totally stupid to make that statement.

Musings from the press conf:

1. Kiffin will work like heck. Will not be out worked.
2. Kiffin will get the ball in the hands of playmakers.
3. Kiffin has no starters on the team. Eric Berry is officially off the depth chart.

Yeah, Kiffin looked like he was in pain for those photos at the end
Just not his element. I'd rather have the coach who's more concerned with recruiting and X's and O's versus the coach more concerned with taking a good picture. He seems very anxious to get things started.

This has been a good day. Kiffin's interview went well, it's snowing up here in north GA, and classes got canceled for the rest of the day.

Absolutely. When you go 5-7, all positions should be open. No favoritism, no you were a starter so you will be a starter. All open, all up for grabs, may the best on the roster play.
