Here is my first game observation from section Z11.
  1. QB- Simms looked like he knew what he was doing, but looks at receivers too long.
  2. TB- Poole and Oku can play in SEC. Williams and Neal looked good as Freshmen.
  3. WR- Jones and Moore looked like seniors. The talented freshmen are not there yet.
  4. OL- This is were I worry the most. We should have blowed UTM off the ball. RB's had to bounce outside to much.
  5. DL- Very fast and aggressive. Subed a lot. Will know a lot more next week. Not as worried as much as I am about the OL.
  6. LB- Solid. Not much blitzing, but we didn't have to.
  7. DB- Good. No receivers open. Only gave up one long play.
  8. ST- Except for Jones fumble. Looked good on coverage. Not much of a chance on returns.
  9. Coaching- Vanilla, nothing fancy coaches didn't have to make any big calls.
  10. Biggest concerns- OL, and G. Jones injury

Here is my first game observation from section Z11.
  1. QB- Simms looked like he knew what he was doing, but looks at receivers too long. He also threw the ball too high all game
  2. TB- Poole and Oku can play in SEC. Williams and Neal looked good as Freshmen. Agreed
  3. WR- Jones and Moore looked like seniors. The talented freshmen are not there yet. agreed
  4. OL- This is were I worry the most. We should have blowed UTM off the ball. RB's had to bounce outside to much. UTmartin loaded up the box... made more sense to bounce it to the outside.
  5. DL- Very fast and aggressive. Subed a lot. Will know a lot more next week. Not as worried as much as I am about the OL. Agreed
  6. LB- Solid. Not much blitzing, but we didn't have to. Agreed, the LB core made the plays. Johnson and Thompson were the two impact players, Saturday night, on the defensive side of the ball.
  7. DB- Good. No receivers open. Only gave up one long play. DB didn't get too much action, on account of the front 7 dominating
  8. ST- Except for Jones fumble. Looked good on coverage. Not much of a chance on returns. ST makes me nervous. I will hold off judgment until next Saturday though.
  9. Coaching- Vanilla, nothing fancy coaches didn't have to make any big calls.
  10. Biggest concerns- OL, and J. Jones injury

See bold.

Most of those runs you guys seem to be referring to were not bounced outside. They were outside runs: stretch, off-tackle, toss, sweep, etc. ie. The blocking was set for them to break it outside on purpose. From what I saw, we didn't attempt alot of runs that were designed between the tackles. Not sure why.

I thought I heard on the CDD show that some of the runs were supposed to go to the inside but the defense was pinching. Poole said he saw this and broke to the outside on his second half td.

Your Leprechaun in Ala avatar is quite funny though:post-4-1090547912:

Herman Lathers made zero tackles. While at the game I saw him on his butt a couple of times, so I thought I would watch the replay and see how he did. After watching the replay, I dont think he will be starting over Johnson for long. Maybe he just had a bad game??

I think the game was a great confidence boost for the team. Although I dont think we can look at this game and think it was much more than a scrimmage. UTM fumbled what 5 kickoffs. They kept themselves in a hole. We are not gonna see these kind of mistakes from Oregon.

It appears that we were able to keep our linebackers free to make plays against UTMB. Just hope we can do the same with Oregon's bigger line.

There were a few plays that I thought that Wilcox had to have a Skyhawk headset on. We were there before the play was set up. Jauques Smith and Lamarcus Thompson were heat seeking missiles at times and that Johnson kid had to be calling the offensive plays for UTMB.
