First game....Georgia Tech

You're disregarding the angst BEFORE the season opener and the scoffing at posters who downplayed their previous season. I'm not even arguing the point you're trying to apply to me. Just mocking the very same buildup that you're giving to a team you'll rip when the Vols Shawshank Redemption their azz.

Oh, so you aren't trying to use the win over Utah State in 2014 as a reason to be unconcerned with GT in 2017? You cited them in both of your posts

We've heard the same song many times before...same chorus every time. :boredom: And they didn't "manage" to beat Utah State...it was a HATE CRIME! :aggressive:

You forgot a lot! They (Utah State) had been to a bowl game more recently and more to the point, had the self haters on this board predicting victory for them or at least a hard fought down to the wire outcome. Kinda like GT this year. :wink2:

Hell, going back and looking at the Utah State score prediction thread, most had posters had picked scores with UT winning by 20+, so I'm not sure what build up you are even referring to as being the same as the discussion of GA Tech. A team that had the same record that we had in 2016, while playing 4 of the same teams, and beating all of them including 1 more than us, but we should be unconcerned because you remember a handful of people who were overly-concerned with Utah State back in 2014?

They did win the Orange Bowl a couple years ago.

Paul Johnson knows how to run the option. If he gets the right backs and a defense that can keep it close, he can win games. See 2014 versus UGA and Dak's Mississippi State team. Success at Navy. Two FCS national championships at Georgia Southern.

The offense is difficult to deal with, and they do win a lot of games.

Edit: 2014, not 2015. Still though.

If GaT has the right QB, they will score a lot of points. I would hate to play them if JG was their QB.

I want you to fret and be concerned about Georgia Tech. I'm not. :)

No concern for GT. It's an easy win as a fan. The players and coaches have a lot of work to do to secure the victory.

All the talk of their dirty cut blocks injuring our Dline is the only thing I'm thinking about.

Somewhere on a GT message board, frequented by 37 people, someone made the exact post but replaced Georgia Tech with UT, and "beat the mighty Boston College" with "lost to a terrible USCe and Vanderbilt".

The transient property of football is nonexistent, but crapping the bed against inferior teams has historical precedence with CBJ, and this game is practically an away game to start the season with a brand new QB, etc. etc...none of which is in our favor.

If Butch sleeps on this team as much as you seem to be, then we really are in trouble.

Good they should say that. It's a forum for fans of Georgia Tech. It's a 50/50 game - maybe a slight lean toward UT. Anyone fretting over it 5 months away has issues.

Yes, I am sure Butch is sleeping on them. I bet he can't wait to poop away game one and send half this forum on suicide watch. He may lose it, He may win it. He may lose 6 games this season, maybe four. Could be just two. Have to wait and see, but I dunno why waiting consist of ****ting your pants.

Because pointing out that we shouldn't sleep on a team that ended last season with the same record as UT, and played 4 of the same teams that UT did, and won all 4 games when we won only 3 of them, is of course the equivalent of defecating in my pants.

Bravo sir, this is as logical as your attempt to defend Butch's sub-par record be trying to paint Fulmer as an '8-4 coach', and almost twice as eloquent.:good!:

How is it an away game bc it's in Atlanta? ATL has a lot of Vol fans. Trust me. Excited to stomp tech and then UGA

Who's sleeping? We're going to have to play a football team in a few months? Run dummies! :scare:

In the last 11 years, GT's recruiting class rank on 247Sports averages 50th, with a high of 41 & a low of 76. To make up for this inferior talent level they run a gimmick offense, one that is hard to prepare for in one week's time in the middle of a season.

This model has worked; Georgia Tech has been to bowl games 10 of the last 11 years. Including two Orange Bowls.

Yet in those 10 bowl games their record is 3-7. To me, this means that the offense is not that hard to defend given time to prepare.
