Interesting news out of their spring camp: SIAP

Football: Georgia Tech QB Matthew Jordan to miss remainder of spring practice with foot injury

This is probably the worst injury-related news that could have come out of the Yellow Jackets’ spring practice.

Also how much spring do they have left? If their game is this weekend he really will only miss 2 practices.

The Butch Jones Swan Song could begin as early as Atlanta. I know the game is based on revenue, but that's not the kind of team you want to start your season with while sitting uncomfortably in the hot seat.

When you have months to prepare for the game it's better than one week.. vols win easy

If Tennessee get's punked by the option with months to prepare then that will tell us all we need to know about Butch and this staff

Really? We will have a new QB starting for the first time away from home. GT runs a lot of misdirection - our DL is not particularly quick or agile so I bet their run game gets to our second level of defense routinely. They play ball control which will be tough for us if our QB turns the ball over. This will be a battle imo. We will be lucky to win

Hopefully the LBs and safeties won't be decimated, yet.

We will run , run and run.. wear down a smaller team in 2nd half

250... Kelly 150+

Interesting, if you're enthusiastic about Tennessee Football you're told to tamper expectations because that's just too much for Butch in year 5. And if you're in the least bit pessimistic you're labeled a negavol (which is the most elementary bs ive heard in a long time) and ostracized.

I think Biopsyman is about right... Fade says Ga Tech will consistently get to our 2nd level with their running game but our backs should be in their secondary all night as well. I think we rush for 250 yards against them... but that doesn't guarantee a victory either.

Gt presents problems obviously but if you can get them in predictable situations their offense isn't designed to handle 3rd and long.

It's all predicted on 1sr down offense. If we don't stop the run on early downs it will be a long day. If we can, we can maybe run away from them.

I expect our OL to be better in the run game and having a new quarterback we were lie heavily on the run. Kelly speed to the edge is very impressive so I see him having several long runs 25+ yards. Also have to remember Georgia Tech really doesn't know what to expect with Larry Scott call the place is well

Until we can show the ability to run inside, it won't matter how well we can get to the edge. There will still be someone there to set it.

That's been a big issue for our run game the past couple years.

Doesn’t GT also have a new QB starting this Fall? I think we win by 10-14 points.

Techs D will be horrible and the new QB is not as good as Thomas the last few years. Even with UT having a new QB, if we don't kill their D, then we will have a horrible season against the SEC. Only way UT loses this one is if they lose the turnover battle which should be in our favor playing against an option team. We have more speed and athletes. Keep them from doing well on first down like someone said is a key. UT should handle GT fine. Will be close for awhile.

Butch has an established history of playing down to the competition, especially in openers.

I'm always nervous against option teams, regardless of how much more talent we have on the field.

The option neutralizes that talent. (Air Force)

I assume we will win, but I'm not as confident as some seem to be.

I know we have a lot of unknowns going into this season, but would you say that we actually matchup better to GT's style of play? I know the option will take practice and present problems, but it's not like their players will be bulldozing our guys. If we can get off blocks and use our speed, I think we will have the advantage.

We will not have to worry too much about the pass and we have the entire off season to prepare for GT. However, we definitely need to see improved LB and DL play.
