Well said.
Nobody fears UT anymore, either, but I think that's where the comparison with Nebraska ends.
Look at Weiss at Notre Dame as well.
He's really stepping up this year.
This makes alot of sense. I personally have some misgivings about a coaching change, but something is awfully wrong with the UT squad.
The games are being lost in the trenches, we ended the Arky St game with with 5.2 YPC, but were in the low 4's early in the 2nd Quarter. Meanwhile, we gave up 5.7 YPC to a team that we should have manhandled up front, due to our size and superior talent.
Against Florida, 1.8 YPC While allowing 5.5, We stifled SMiss to 2.8, but averaged 4.9 ourselves, which is not impressive, again citing the talent differential up front. Cal ripped us for 6.2 YPC.
This, to me, shows one of 3 things: A lack of comprehension for the steps to react to an opponents rush attempts, a lack of fitness on the part of the athletes, or a simple lack of 100% effort on every snap. All 3 can be attributed to the coaching staff to varying degrees.
Since that was so far off topic, i'll get to my point. Like the Callahan comment, going with Chris Peterson because of the trendiness might not be the best bet for the future, if (when) the change comes, it has to be a calculated move.
We find our guy, contact him and get things set, making sure that he is truly who we want, then, behind closed doors, ask Coach Fulmer to announce his resignation following the season. If he won't, than he'll have to deal with being fired.
We don't need a Charlie Weis fiasco, which ND got themselves into by canning Willingham, only to have Urban Meyer leave them at the altar, so they had to scramble to find someone...
