Fire Pruitt [merged]

Should Jeremy Pruitt be fired?

Perhaps the better question is should he have been HIRED?

That’s my issue with all of this. In a time where all we needed was stability and a proven winner, we ignored Lees Miles and Mike Leach. This administration deserves all the bad things that are about to happen to them.

Step one to firing your coach is paying them to leave.

Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

Paying millions more in buyout money is not something you do when you are just trying to bleed every last dime out of a dead program and a fanbase full of rubes.

And I promise you that is EXACTLY what they are going to do. On Monday they will all talk about how much they believe in Pruitt and that's the last time anyone in the administration will think about football until next Monday.

How can you say this about Coach Fulmer? He bleeds more orange than anyone on this website! The man lives for our University and I have full confidence in his decision making. He may not be right, but I do believe he has the University's best interests at heart.

I am 49 years old, always been a die-hard Vols fan since I was little. This is the first time in my life I feel like there is no hope. This UT football program has been destroyed. I doubt it will ever be the same.

If the Vols turn this season around I will be shocked. In fact, the only thing that would make this acceptable is if Ga State goes undefeated. Then I would realize the Vols lost to a better team, not to a powder-puff school.

I'm in shock and totally lost as a Vols fan. I don't know how this season will be worth watching. Guess I will watch coach Leach's team when I can.

Unless Fulmer has been absolutely killing it with penny stocks over the years I doubt he's going to foot the bill himself.

Fulmer doesn't get to decide if we fire Pruitt. Simple as that. And even if he did, it's far from a given he would do it. The man who torpedo'd the Leach hire to get Pruitt isn't going to cut bait until the last possible second.

Let Tee have the team. Pruitt should just figure head this bitch. O turned over to Chaney. Pruitt should focus on the D.

Let's see how the season plays out, before we start talking about firing a coach in his 13th game. This coach also had to take over the worst UT football team that has ever been fielded.

And he made it worse, that took some work.

He’s done, whether it’s this year or next he’s done. Anyone who thinks this gets corrected in a week or two is smoking powerful “stuff”. When you have the amount of time Pruitt had to prepare his team to play GA ST at home with a glaring talent advantage and you present 💩. This is disastrous for Fulmer as well. TN desperately needed a proven winning head coach after Butch. It was not time to give a guy his first shot.

Fulmer is and was the problem. He needs to be completely removed from everything UT. He ran the program into the ground and looks like he’s doing it again.

Was UT in the 90s a fluke?

A theory: In the 90s, Alabama was weak and Georgia was average, so Tennessee had its pick of recruits in both of those states as well as in Memphis. However, with Alabama and Georgia rising in the 2000s, those states were no longer ripe for the picking. And further west, other programs (such as Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Memphis, and Vanderbilt) finally began investing in their football programs, so UT could not necessarily dominate in Memphis either.

That would leave East and Middle Tennessee as UT's main areas of dominance. These are big, important regions, but can they deliver the athletes at the level of Alabama, Georgia, Memphis, and adjacent areas. Not to mention going east over the mountains; that direction is now owned by Clemson.

Going forward, is UT going to be more like Kentucky, with a solid football program in certain years while dominating the country in men's basketball?

The Captain of the Titanic had the best interests of his ship at heart too. That didn't stop him from disregarding ice warnings, slamming his ship into an iceberg, and sinking the whole lot. Good intentions are admirable. But they aren't wins.

Tuesday, I’m sure they’ll enjoy their Labor Day, while not thinking about UT football.
GBO!!

This team quit the last 2 games of last year! They have had all off season to get the players motivated to play hard and get that bad taste out of their mouths. They came out and played like they don’t give a crap....guess what the coach don’t give a crap either....it comes from the top. Please save me the no one wants the job so we have to stick with this loser!!!!!
