Fire Kim Caldwell

Do what? Jujuan Howard drove Michigan into the ditch winning 8 games his last year. One year later, S16. Two years later, championship game. Stop this narrative.
Indiana football made the playoffs in year 1 and won in year 2 in a much more competitive sport. If you’re a good coach, it shouldn’t take years in the NIL and transfer era.

Catch all space for the fire at all costs posts.

While I don’t personally think firing Kim is the best move at this specific moment, I notice that occasionally other threads are getting derailed or stuck at the fire at all costs themes. Perhaps that needs a clearer place to land. This is that place.

If all such posts and comments can live here, it will allow the other threads to continue as spaces to discuss and debate other topics.

Yeah that won't work. That never works.

All this thread will do is give folks a chance to rehash and repeat the same things they're saying elsewhere, except now there'll be even more of it.

We are in complete agreement on that point. Our paths diverge on your statement that talent alone is sufficient to reach the Final Four.

Yeah, you're right. If Tennessee recruits consistently at a UConn or Scar level, then probably elite 8.

I don't think Sweet 16 is that competitive yet but WBB is getting more competitive every decade.

Aside from incidents involving some sort of scandal that became public, this is one of the most stunning falls from grace that I've ever witnessed in sports.

From media and fan darling to lightning rod scapegoat and pariah within a 12-month period....

Case studies will be forthcoming. Maybe books and an ESPN movie.

Michigan is getting ready to do the same with Dusty May.
He was actually called the 'Cignetti of basketball' over the weekend.

Danny White needs to find the Cignetti / May of Women's BB.
He thought he was getting that with Caldwell, but that's clearly not the case.

My two cents worth - Caldwell gets a short leash this next year to see how the rebound happens.
If it bounces up, it buys more time.
If it doesn't, DW needs to have three names on the top of that list and he MUST make the first name say no:
* K. Lawson - rising start that is showing how to work the NIL and Transfer portal
* N. Ivey - recent success in the game, great coach, great recruiter
*T. Moren - great coach that would do well by having a reset at some place new

I don’t see why you would allow any more damage or slippage to the program with another year, but it‘s obvious Danny watched that 8 game losing streak with no plan in mind besides keep Kim.

Indiana didn’t have to replace their entire roster.
Right, but it is a possibility now. She can get every player she wants for her style. She doesn't have to manage players from a former staff or players who aren't bought in.

We should learn everything we need to know about her potential and future here over the next year, while buying some time to get the right coach if she fails.

As most sports at UT im becoming numb to the situation. Football went off the rails and we lived through that forever. Baseball was a doormat and then we had our run and now it takes a bottle of antacids to get through a game. Womens basketball had do eventually go through their Dooley era. And now we are even below that. The house that Pat built is now an outhouse of smells. If it can ever be revived its gonna take someone with more pull than a no name coach with a gimmick system. We need someone who understands this isnt no longer about living up to Pat. But the standards she stood for cant be forgotten. Kim may be the sweetest there is. But she isnt big enough for this job. She is over her head and the deer in the headlight looks way to many times told me more than i ever needed to know.
News flash Lady Vols been off the rails since 2010.

11 players were her recruits. These were almost all of her players she recruited. At least say something factual when arguing.

Well Civil has entered the transfer portal. Now we have no returning starters and right now 13 spots to fill. This has to be the worst place the Lady Vols have been in. Next thing you know we will be holding campus tryouts. Hang on because this is going to be a bumpy ride.

I'm not talking about the players that she brought in. I'm talking about the players she started with and had to manage for the first year and all of the players who never bought in or who quit, whether she brought them or not. The point is that she will have 0 excuses and the next year will absolutely show whether she can do it or not.

How do you know she’ll bring in players who are bought in this year when she didn’t last year?

She was 24-10 with the players she managed the first year. At what point did the car start traveling towards the cliff?

Let’s not forget it takes half a year for players to learn her system (her words not mine). A team full of mid major players who don’t even know each others name and we’re expecting it to well? 🤣
