Surely you are not attempting to equate going 8-5 and losing the Music City Bowl to an unranked team to going 12-2 and losing in the quarter finals, are you? I'm a Heupel supporter but that's asinine. The level of criticism a coach reasonably can expect from those 2 outcomes is not the same. You're leading with the chin.

If you know O-H-I-O State fans, that is one of the first things the say after a loss! They are one of the most entitled fan bases. It is always Day's fault. They give no credit to the other team.

I will say, with Day it definitely is a coaching issue over a talent issue when they lose. He's a soft coach and his team follows his lead. The entitled fan base follows that same lead. He wants the calls because they're 'THE'. He whines if they don't get all the calls his way. He cried about that uga hit on Harrison for a year. Can't be surprised when his fan base also cries.

Not the same as losing to Illinois and a 5 loss season, but if Ohio played our schedule, they wouldn't have been #2 in the CFP. Their kicker would have lost the games to UGA and OU and Illinois as well! 😂

Sounds somewhat familiar. Reminds me of another coach/program albeit with far, far less talent.....both in players and coaching staff.

Don't our fans do this too? Always blaming Refs, ESPN and even world poverty. Did our fans give credit to Illinois or blame it on Inge and Gilbert? We are NO different.

Day is primarily a roster builder…he out talents just about everyone he faces - he had more talent than Indiana but Indiana has a real coach.

Left tackle slipped and gave our game away, make the block, no Illinois TD and we go on to win.

Case and point! 😂..Hell, blame Staley for his drop at the 5. If he catches that, we probably get a TD or at the very least a closer FG for Max. Or blame JA for the strip sack for a TD. We had no business winning that game. Illinois beat our ass. They punted what, once?

Nope, the strip sack was on Heards slip. Staleys drop, I’d have to rewatch they play again, I thought it was a tough catch to make, but I was being distracted by my 90 yo mother. I just didn’t feel we were getting our ass beat. The game was winnable

Laugh all you want but Day would have been fired last year if he hadn’t won it all and his seat right now is as hot as CJHs.

OSU does not accept losing to its rival and will fire a coach even if they are winning.

He won’t be fired in 26 but if he starts losing to Michigan again he will be gone in a few years.

Yeah, watch it again, Staley just dropped it. Hit him in the hands. The yardage was a pretty big gap. I've seen QB's get hit all the time and not fumble, that's on JA. I never felt like it was an evenly played game. Illinois was up and down the field on us, they just couldn't convert on 4th. I'll give the D credit for that. JA couldn't do anything, the WR's couldn't get open, Star was our best offensive player and was underused. Illinois was the better team and better coached.
