what kind of idiot gives that coach a raise and agrees with the clawson hire

the entire staff along with the AD need to hit the road;this is a sad day... allowing it to disintegrate to this point is unacceptable

I'm beginning to wonder if it was a strategic decision on Hamilton's part. Knowing full well that Clawson's O would be laughable. It takes alot for an AD to be able to fire someone like Fulmer. Maybe he was keeping the powers that be happy knowing down inside that Fulmer would shoot himself in the foot. This way he was able to keep all of the guys in power happy while still ultimately getting what he wanted.

Nice. And who should we hire?

Also, watch the language.

Hamilton would be wise to hire an excellent coach, or he could be gone soon.

hit the road Hamilton you fuktard

Classy. The raise was in the contract. I don't understand what people have against Hamilton. He had to fire a coach that's been here for 17 seasons and was loved by his players. Any of us would have a difficult time with that. I believe he handled it as well as he possibly could. As for Clawson, the resume looked good. There's not much you can do until you see the product on the field.

While we're on this firesale though why not fire Peterson?

I agree 100%. Hamilton didn't coach this team.

ADs don't hire assistant football coaches, the head football coach does.

Hamilton's done nothing wrong. If he makes a bad hire, he'll be gone in 3 years or less, however.

Hamilton must be in disarray right now. He finally did what the fanbase was calling for and now everyone is calling for his head. I'm afraid we are turning into fans that we don't want to be.

A handful if malcontents asking for the head of an AD who has made smart moves with regards to almost all of our athletic programs are not representative of the fan base as a whole. Even in this thread most people are dismissing the OP.

Something like this is bound to bring out the unreasonable mouthbreathers whose highest level of education was the 4th grade.

I hope you're right but I'm ready to call it about 50/50

We asked for and got what we wanted. Fulmer is gone. If he had not fired Fulmer, you would be calling for his head now that we have lost to Wyoming. Alot are calling for his head even though he DID finally fire Phil.

It's not Hamilton's fault we just lost to one of the worst D-1 teams out there. It's not his fault we have had such a lousy crappy season. It is not his fault that the players, who were apparently so concerned about keeping their coach, couldn't muster up enough fire to get some wins against lousy teams like Auburn and Wyoming.

Granting Fulmer a contract extension has turned out to be a terrible idea. But Hamilton did what was needed. Stop trying to make him out to be some sort of villain. If he hires a bust as coach, then we can talk about getting rid of him.

The lesson learned is that you DO NOT use the Vols as a testing ground for unproven coaches.

I agree. Hamilton handled this situation about as good as possible. Although, I might have fired Fulmer's ass today after the game!

Agreed.
