Finebaum Tweet on Cuonzo

Finebaum is the ugliest human being on planet earth hands down. On a side note... I hope cuonzo leaves if he feel the urge to even look around. He has an amazing gig based upon what he's accomplished this far.

Can't fault someone for trying to get a bigger payday. You know you would do it.

There were a lot of people who said Butch Jones had no experience recruiting with the big boys and would stumble in getting good talent but I think ole Butch is proving you can do a lot more at a major university.

Trying to compare to power of using the name of UT as a big university in recruiting in football to basketball recruiting is not far from doing the opposite for Kentucky.

Here's the thing with Marshall, some others have mentioned...

1. You didn't like Martin's personality, you really won't like Marshall.

2. You didn't like the pace Martin played at, you really won't like Marshall.

3. You didn't like the way Martin recruited, you really won't like Marshall.

4. You're tied in for a long time, so you better hope it works.

A lot of those apply to Howland too.

This just isn't true. Van Vleet is the only 4* player on the team.(that I can find) Go back to other recent recruiting classes, they get more with less than anybody in the country.

I believe Early was a JUCO All-American. I think he had some very good offers. Not sure how highly regarded Carl Hall was from last year.

Marshall seems to like the JUCO route, and he took a few transfers.

Hard to argue with this record. I don't care if he's mute during interviews. Just keep that winning % and people will love him.

Tennessee fans will be mad no matter who we hire. They will be mad if CM stays. They will cry about something no matter what. They want new coaches every year and then are too dumb to realize why the Athletic programs are horrible. Easily the most toxic fan base out there right now. This whole deal has been embarrassing.

I said there team is more talented, not that their team was predicted to be more talented based on how they played in high school. If you want to use recruiting rankings to say Marshall is good at coaching up players or he is good at spotting underrated players, then you have a more legit position. Although I find it hard to believe the Early would not have become a legit NBA first round prospect had he gone to another school, but who knows.

Why would Marshall leave for UT? We are about to loose our coach to a team that lost their coach to Virginia Tech. If you are a coach worth top dollar, you are worth it somewhere other than UT apparently. If Va Tech is higher up the coaching chain than UT, where the hell do you think we rank as far as jobs go? If you are a hot, up an comer, why risk your career coming to a football school with an unrealistic fan base and poor recruiting area? Why not wait until a winnable situation arises?

So much fail. While I agree that it won't be as easy as people think, we are higher up the ladder than Virginia Tech. Why can't people understand that Buzz Williams clearly wanted out of Marquette? He did it for several reasons. It was no secret that he was going to take the best job he could get. He obviously wanted Tech over Wake Forest or BC (if they were even interested). He also didn't want to wait on other jobs because he wanted out that badly. That doesn't mean that Tech is better than UT.

What about Danny Manning? Have heard his name thrown around. Don't know anything about him except he coaches at Tulsa and made it to the tourney in his second year. What kind of ball does he play? Uptempo or what. How does he recruit? Etc etc
I mentioned Manning early in this thread, he won a championship as a player for Larry Brown and was an assistant for several years at Kansas. He is up for national coach of the year this year, definitely worth a phone call.

I can't be the only one who isn't sold on Marshall.
I agree but his resume speaks for itself just look at what he accomplished at Winthrop (7 NCAA appearances in 9 years) before moving to Wichita State!

Then with the Shockers in 7 years he has NIT Championship and 3 straight NCAA appearances with a Final Four and 35-0 season losing in the third round by two to a now Final Four team!

Kevin O'Neil left UT for Northwestern, do you really think Northwestern was a better program than us, even then?

Just because a good coach leaves and goes somewhere doesn't make it a better job. It means he wanted out.

Marshall is probably an in-between Pearl and Martin.

The only problem with him would be $$ and if Cheek back off a little be with the Academic standards for enrollment. Would we pay enough. We have the facilities, We have a fan base that will get you status which is good and bad.

Martin will probably stayed, ah I don't think so, after he has been raked a little bit.
The Marquette Job is more suited for him, I guess. Let's face it, if he stayed here he was going to have to develop better offensive x and o's, or hire somebody to do it.

Pearl was going to be a tough act to follow for anyone. His firing versus his leaving was the best way for the UT/Pearl split.

Holland set systems are going to be boring and based on the 3 articles I have read he has a hard time building team chemistry because of his personality so it seems.

We can have both in football and basketball. There are other schools that do well in both schools yearly. Florida (last year was not the Norm) Stanford, Wisconsin (LOL), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State.

Maybe Martin stays and proves us wrong. Next years team we have no way of Knowing. We play a Georgia type schedule next year in the SEC.
