UNC also has another problem… Hubert Davis. He can’t finish worse than 3rd or 4th in the ACC this season . Scheyer and Duke continue to reload and Will Wade will have NC State as a very good program pretty soon. Carolina has themselves in a helluva pickle.UNC probably doesn't have 40 million to waste on firing BB and the staff. The next hire will be Butch Jones
Tangentially related, but it makes me hate that stupid Modelo ad with the lady wearing the UNC National Champions shirt.![]()
Power struggles, senators and the chaotic pursuit of a legend: How North Carolina landed Bill Belichick
North Carolina's hiring of Bill Belichick was the stunner of the college football year. Here's how the Tar Heels pulled it off.www.espn.com
If you want a look at how F’ed this coaching search was, read through this. Get a good idea of the dumpster fire that is UNC football.
this and development was my thought. he's been coaching grown men who have already been developed enough to make it the nfl. now he has to be the one who turns these blanks canvases into nfl ready athletes. he's in over his head and he's out of touch with the times. it's a mess. oh and his son can't coach for crap. the UNC defense is terrible...During Tennessee's open week, Heupel was bouncing all around the southeast attending high school games and not on vacation.
Maybe hiring a guy who never coached a day in college and had no idea what the job really required wasn't the most well thought out idea.
I just never understood the hire to begin with. Why would you as an organization pony up more money that they have EVER paid a head coach in an amount that makes him top 10 highest paid coach in the nation, for a coach that has NEVER coached at the college level and is completely washed up with no market value even at the NFL level? He is in a relationship with a gold digger and clearly is looking to enjoy his golden years. He has nothing to prove. He doesn't care what anyone thinks or says. He has no motivation to be successful. He has absolutely NO other suitors and you had to break the bank just to get him get out of the pool with some tart and go back to work. This never had a chance to be successful by any standard...not even the Colorado "success" where they don't really win anything but at least get great notoriety and publicity. This was clearly a put everything on the line hire as they were only paying Mack 5 mil per year. They could have spent that money on a proven coach and at least given themselves a chance to elevate the program. A fool and his money....Not confirmed. Took a vacation last week during off week.
Correction PF reporting someone else reporting it. Not confirmed by Finebaum.
All of these people will look like idiots in the near future.![]()

I’m sure if things get bad enough they’ll tell him to kick rocks. Wouldn’t be the first head coach in waiting to get passed over.Isn't Belichick's kid set up to take over once he leaves? I know the buyout rumor was shot down by all parties but if he even were to leave, wouldn't it be his kid who takes over?
He apparently felt the need to prove he could coach without Brady. And the NFL wasn't offering. They already knew. He has finally found his answer though.I just never understood the hire to begin with. I don’t feel one bit sorry for UNC. They got what they paid for which is a coach in waiting that’s never been a head coach. My hope is that not only does Bill have a buyout, but Steve does too.
