Finebaum: "Pruitt killed it"

Yeah. I don’t remember anyone ever ranting and raving about Butch being hired.

Some fans would claim I was a great hire if UT hired me - they will just let blind optimism take over no matter what the facts say.

The majority of fans, though, were in an uproar when Butch was hired because either they thought we were getting Gruden or a bigger name than Butch.

In the ensuing months, most fans rallied behind Butch because, well, you might as well hope for the best. Early recruiting success put more people on the Butch bandwagon until eventually it was evident that his lack of game management skills outweighed any recruiting skills he had.

Who cares he is dawg blow hard and he is pitiful to listen to or watch true db

He's actually interesting to listen to, because a lot of the stuff he said today was either out of emotion/bias because he's a Georgia guy or he just doesn't know much about football and this Tennessee team in particular.

He made multiple statements today which I and others have talked about in this thread that are just, frankly, kind of ridiculous if you take a moment and do some homework, which is supposed to be his job as an analyst.

The only guy on there who I think truly knows what he's talking about all the time and can speak with some objectivity is Greg McElroy. Booger and Marcus Spears are pretty good too, and Finebaum is actually pretty good when he's not talking to idiot callers on his show.

Because whether you or anyone else wants to admit it, nobody in the media has more inside knowledge of what is happening in the SEC than Finebaum.

So he used his insider status to learn that Pruitt nailed the press conference today?

I just saw it on SEC. I thought he did well and I really like the guy. I think he will be an excellent coach for us.

Also just watched Saban. He was phenomenal IMO.

It was honestly insane and somewhat refreshing to watch finebaum go on a rant in our favor and be the one guy at the table rooting for us. Also love the butch comments. We all hated him talking smack about butch and us the past few years, but im sure most of us agree with him now, at least about butch.

He also just said, with Pruitt and Fulmer back, Tennessee is on the right track for a first time in a long time.

Funny listening to sports radio here in Alabama. They think that CPF will knife CJP in the back and name himself as the interim coach and eventually take the job himself

It's funny how unrealistic people are nowadays, with how binding and protective these coaching contracts are, plus the amount of media coverage something like that is almost impossible to pull off without a complete and total meltdown being involved.

I was really surprised to see all the emotion across the panel after CJP. Pollock and Mcleroy seemed to be defending their coaches.. Which who cares?!?!?!?

I don't watch much of Paul's show but I was impressed that he really seemed to get fired up. He actually took a few seconds to act like a Tennessee Alumni and Fan. It was refreshing and I gained a little respect for him.

He probably feels more comfortable defending Tennessee now that power appears to reside in the hands of people who know or appear to know something about football.

."

I wish I could agree with this. I feel very good about the football staff and the AD, but we don’t have a Chancellor, and soon won’t have a President. Either of those to be hired can screw up a good AD and staff. I hope I am pleasantly surprised when those two positions are filled.

Alabama’s unbridled hatred towards Coach Fulmer warms the cockles of my heart.

In a perfectly Orange world, we would beat Alabama this year, ADPF would walk the sideline with a SEG on his face and then we'd hear that BJ got fired the next day.

He wasn't friendly to Butch really at all, especially before last season.

BTW, if Vol fans want objective analysis from a non-Tennessee person, listen to Greg McElroy.

Before last season started Jones had done his best to show he was in too deep. Not only on the field but in front of mic.

Jones put it on a tee and Finebaum swelled up.

Finebaum understands what is needed to be relevant in his industry. Picking the right pot at the right time is important. Regardless of where you learned.
