When I was at UT I worked at the Daily Beacon also. I ended up writing sports stories for a daily newspaper outside Philly. My sidekick at the Beacon my senior year is even more famous than Paul Finebaum and is on ESPN several days a week. You all know him...Woody Paige syndicated columnist with the Denver Post. When he was here he worked for the Daily Beacon. No one like him then either.
Oklahoma won't be able to punish us with the run this year if K Mac and Tuttle are as good in live action as they look so far. We'll have size and depth to clog the middle and keep fresh bodies there. They're in the first year of switching back to the air raid, which, if you want to try and throw on our secondary, by my guest. If we stop their run and force them to beat us through the air, our deep, solid secondary and vicious pass rush will wreck Baker Mayfield (or whoever their QB is) and give him no time to throw and no open receivers.
I have lived in Alabama a LONG time. Listened to Finebaum for years. Basically he turned Bama homey while doing his radio show out of Birmingham.
His show was AWESOME to listen to beginning when Stallings was falling from grace, then the 3 Mikes (Shula, Dubose, Price) and Franchione years.
What Tennessee has gone through with Kiffen/Dooley is (IMO) not near the meltdown Bama had during those years.
Finebaum trolls the fans and when there is a tiny chink in the armor - he sticks the knife in and twists it. Very fun to listen to when Bama is melting down.
Having said all that - I honestly think he's either getting sentimental over UT, or has a big time MAN CRUSH on DOBBS and CBJ.
He worked the Bama fans into rabid dogs about Fulmer. Was it justified? No. Fulmer did what he had to do to get that slimy Memphis stuff exposed (and that has been beaten to death).
I figure most Bama fans don't so much hate Fulmer for that, but for the same reason we dislike Saban. Tired of losing to him.

Tenn should beat ou by over 10 points, ou lost too much and tenn personnel has improved greatly in the past year. ou should lose several games this season: Tenn, Texas, Baylor and Tcu . My big concern is the refs they will be Big 12 and they will do everything they can to screw Tennessee out of the win.
Maybe, but you OU fans most likely will see a completely different team than the one that came to Norman last season. Doesn't mean UT will win, but a lot of those boys have grown up a lot in the past 12 months.
I dont have a good feeling about this game. I have a feeling we are going to struggle stopping their new spread offense.
The spread offense kind of neutralized the effectiveness of the d-line.
And their new OC is supposed to be some kind of boy genius personally recommended to Oklahoma by his mentor Mike Leach.
Hope I am wrong, but spread offenses scare me. Especially the ones in the BIG 12
