Can someone fill me in on exactly why we are celebrating these financial aid agreements. If a player can sign multiple of them, what does it mean to Tennessee when a player signs one for Tennessee?
Are these a new thing this year?

Thanks in advance.

New loophole this year. Once a player signs it, the contact restrictions are lifted for that school. Now that Malone has signed, the coaches can call or visit whenever and as much as they like. It basically secures a spot for the player at that school. The school has to save them a spot if they want it, and cannot back out... although, the recruit can still sign to another school

My understanding is that it allows the school to have unlimited contact with the player. The player can back out in the end. It's a loophole that I'm sure the NCAA will close next year.

Spoke w/ my Aunt, cannot give details on why she would know.
Can say that she knows the details on the rules around the agreements.
Everyones speculation is correct.
The agreement functions like a LOI.
I think the NCAA did not intend recruits to sign more than 1.
My Aunt agrees, and said that will likely be corrected next year.
She has confirmed there are also other benifits to having the FA signed.
Once signed, a player can enroll in classes.
Before, a player had to sign the LOI, or graduate early to enroll.
This agreement allows them to still be in HS classes, and take pickup classes.
As long as a kid is enrolled, they if they are being back counted can practice with the team on campus.
That in my opinion is huge.. more important than permissible contact.
An EE that can pick up a single class to be considered enrolled is WIN.

It was possible before, but the kid had to have taken AP classes in HS, and then sign the FA agreement, graduate HS early, then they could take classes in the fall or winter.
This hardly ever happed because What are the chances that a HS football star ever took AP classes to do it.
This new FA rule update opens the ability to be enrolled.
The EE backcount is the reason the rule was updated.
Several ADs were stating it is not fair that the kids are part of the class but cannot be on campus till spring of the following year.
Gon be interesting to see how it all shakes out I think.
