Riley is so overrated as a coach. He won when he had great players, he was average when he had average players, and he was bad when he had bad players.

Like most coaches. Phil Jackson and Popovich are the only two in recent history to distinguish themselves from the pack. Virtually every coach can positively impact player productivity in their first season coaching a new player (this includes Riley). Almost no coaches positively impact player productivity into their second season together. Jackson and Popovich have shown to positively impact player productivity into their third season together.
Most coaches make no difference. They win when they have good players (just like Spo is doing), and they lose when they have bad players (just like Riley did). Besides the few outliers, it doesn't matter who your coach is.
