Finals thread.

yeah i don't think that it should have garnered as much attention as it did

but in this day of national (sports) media, the way it was treated didn't help

...then again we're also living in a world now where if you're famous everyone finds out almost everything you do or say, and on a lesser level even a misthought out twitter or Facebook post can have serious negative repercussions

Imagine if players back in the day had to go through the ringer like LeBron has.

I'm a huge fan of his, I make no bones about it but at the end of the day, he's been a model citizen and has done just about everything you could ask for a guy in his position.

Like stated earlier, he had a 24 hour mishap that he has openly apologized for more than he should have.

This. Gimme some badgering, trolling media + Twitter etc etc in some other athletes careers. Its way different. Nobody else ever faced "win or your legacy is forgotten" pressure. Closest to it was Peyton before he won one.

I hate Kobe, but I have to disagree.

He's a great player in his own right and one of the best to ever lace them up.

He's also the most selfish player to ever lace them up and he in no way shape or form deserves to be mentioned with Jordan/Bird/Magic.

I am not saying he's not a great player. I'm just saying it's BS that people have reflexively genuflected and called him arguably the best player in the NBA for the last what, six or seven years? Or that they routinely call him a top 10 ever player?

The guy is a poor man's Michael Jordan who completely bought into the Hero Ball mythology and has relentlessly pursued it to its self-aggrandizing ultimate end. He hurts his team because he plays that way. Guy's a tool.

Who wants to look up and see what the largest number of assists Kobe's ever put up in a game?

but it was still just a big pep rally, stuff like that gets said allll the time, its just cause hes lebron james and was caught on camera saying it

no i understand it's just playing a crowd

it's also just that going that route (comparison wise) might create more of a negative association with people than you're really hoping to go for (for one thing)

I just wanna say first off, you may be my favorite poster on this site. That outta the way.

I agree completely.

The guy modeled his entire game after Jordan, down to how he jogs down the court.

Kobe's game is flattery at its finest.

I'm gonna print this out and highlight that comment in yellow to prove to Mrs Vercingetorix that I haven't been all this time on this orange-banded website for nothing. I am slowly accreting disciples, whom I'll eventually need to help establish discipline when I establish my world-dominating religion. She'll be proud.

Can I be your partner in crime?
