First off, the wave might be the most annoying thing in all of sports, coming in just ahead of the "World Wide Leader's" coverage of Tebow and Favre. But I do realize the wave is not going to go away, I only do have one request. Please stop doing the wave when our team is on offense. It happened again this past weekend. Please stop.

So.... my ten year old daughter LOVES the wave - which means I do, too. She also likes to yell Whooo! in Rocky Top. I also like it when she does that. At the UCLA game she was scolding the fans on either side of us to stay quiet when we were on offense - she also almost lost her voice when we were on defense.

Needless to say - I want her to have passion for TN football. She doesn't understand the X's and O's yet - but as long as she has that passion she will. If it takes the wave and a whooo - then I'll gladly live with it.

FYI, for those who think we are the only ones doing the wave... you need to get out more often.

The wave and the "Wooo" are kind of like the lottery. Everybody knows it's a bad idea to participate and they look stupid doing it . . . and yet they thrive.

People get so caught up in the wave it's dumb - they miss plays on the field. And we did the wave against Ohio only up like 7-10 points in the 3rd quarter...

Wiki has everything

"Although it was not associated with sports, Frank Zappa is credited by some with inventing a precursor to the wave in 1969 at the Denver Pop Festival in Denver Mile High Stadium when he assigned sounds and gestures to sections of the crowd and sequenced them with hand gestures. He conducted with the audience making sounds...farting, vomiting, and belching. He would conduct waves of one, two, or three sounds at the same time. He then commented, "You guys are pretty good, you ought to get a band together and call yourselves Denver". He then walked offstage to end the performance.[citation needed] The exact origin of the wave is disputed. Its growth may be traced to five different sports, across three different North American countries, and Russia."

The Wave is stupid, it is to 1980's. And for gosh sakes, why are you doing it while we are on offense?!?

The one on Saturday started in the student section. Someone should have told those dumbazzes that there was a football game going on; a pretty good one at that.

The wave is always a terrible idea. I wish the old man who stopped it at WKU game was there this past weekend.

To make matters worse, the wave was going on while Georgia had a man hurt on the field. Not very respectful.

I bet the wave was instigated by a 40 year old man wearing a jersey. Those guys don't know when to sit down.

Guys come on. It is all in fun man. Like it or not, the wave may be the only thing to get the student section to stop texting long enough to at least look at the scoreboard. There's more to a gameday experience than whats cool to 2500 VN members. I agree on the offense thing though. Next time it starts, look at all the people on the sidelines and visiting sections filming it. It may be dated but it is something that "experts" don't see every week. Lighten up. We argue when our fans are quiet and not involved then get upset when 103,000 get involved in the one thing that will get them out of their seats. Can't have it both ways.

The wave is silly yeh, but it doesn't make my teeth grit like that stupid Woo. That crap is embarrassing.

I clearly recalled 2 home games that after people started doing waves, the other team started their score campaign, 2006 Cal game (18 points), and 2007 South Carolina game (successive TD, and almost came back and beat us at home).
