Finally, a worthy successor to the Torchbearer: Pat Summit's formative Effect on Kim Caldwell

Gotta admit, I was a proud Harper camper and loved her but I'm glad we got Kim to lead the program. The energy she brings and her in game coaching has made be a huge supporter!
Never liked Harper as a coach, didn't have what it takes; not sure there's a better coach out there than Caldwell, at least for the VOLS.

Everyone hoped for success for Harper. It’s clear there is a different intensity and energy with Caldwell so far as coaching goes though.

Some folks just have “it” really think Kim’s got that factor that makes a coach truly great.

From the article: "For Caldwell, the rivalry was fascinating because of the way both teams seemed to elevate each other’s level of play. She recalls one of the most memorable games between the teams: the 2008 national championship game, when Tennessee faced UConn for the title. Despite being an underdog, UConn, led by a brilliant performance from Maya Moore, managed to secure the victory. It was a heartbreaking moment for Lady Vols fans, but Caldwell saw it as a pivotal point in the rivalry."

A long time ago I wrote a few articles for a couple local papers, and I made some embarrassing mistakes. For instance, I once somehow managed to attach the wrong name to a person who was literally a focus of an article. How embarrassing? Her husband coached me in high school football. Yes, we had an editor, who apparently had a lot of confidence in my professional integrity. We'd sell a few-thousand copies of that sports weekly, so, of course, there was feedback. It can humble you. All these years later I'm still blushing.

Most of you will recall news of the Maya Moore recruitment: the "meeting" in Coach Summitt's office; the "Tour," the "House," and other such antics; not to mention Patricia Sue's stern adherence to principle that led to the cancellation of the greatest rivalry in Women's sports since Evert-Navratilova.

However, I doubt that any of you will remember the 2008 Title game loss to Connecticutt.

I think Kelli is a very good coach on a mid major or maybe even a smaller P5 scale. She was very good at Missouri State but the pressure and the magnitude of coming home for the UT job was just to much for her honestly.
She was a coach that couldn't recruit never could get enough talent to make a run at the National championship. Caldwell still has to prove herself on that level and is off to a super start with a top rated class coming in next year and her ability to show improvement with this team.

Is anybody besides me a little curious about the origins of this article? When and where the interview took place? The organization that published it? The person who did the interview? mhyke? 3days ago? Your thoughts.
I clicked on this link but got all kinds of spyware warnings. Be careful. Also, it is very easy for unscrupulous actors to create fake stories and fake quotes via ChatGP.

Great article but fraught with popup ads. Finally able to get through it in “reader” mode.

I think it’s fine, i read it earlier today, nothing to worry about it.

Interesting development this evening, I don't mean to brag but I'm helping a Nigerian Prince with a pretty serious financial matter. I can't really talk about it.

I was like "huh?" They had to mean 2004. That was the only time the LVs played UConn in a national final after 1995 and was the favorite.

Geno and the Conn artists blew their chance in '08 by losing to Stanford in the semis. It would have been a hell of a game, though.

As you can see I’m not one to post but, I do reas daily. The day CJC was announced I can’t help but remember the turmoil. Who is she, CKH should be given another year, DW has no idea what he’s doing etc. While she was basically unknown especially to our fan base she’s the best thing that has happened to us since Pat IMO. She brought new life to the program and fans. Then the announcement of her pregnancy. Some were in an uproar again. To me she a young version of Pat. From the first step off the plane for her introduction she hasn’t slowed down. The birth of her son wasn’t even a bump in the road. We don’t know what the future hold but, I’m hoping she is as committed to the state of Tennessee and the Lady Vols as Pat and here to stay!

2008 we beat Stanford. Also Pat didn’t like Geno’s sense of humor on top of his sneaky against the rules in recruiting. I also remember a “rumor” geno patted Pat on the butt. All of it led her to cancel. I hadn’t forgiven Holly Warlick for renewing with Geno til we beat them!!!!!

So far CKC appears to be the best of the three coaches to be hired since Pat’s retirement. She can recruit and has the team playing better than the two former coaches. She did it with what she inherited and the portal. She has made the team competitive against top five talent. That is hard to do your first year and bringing in the number 2 recruiting class, this coaching staff deserves an A++!!

For the love of GOD. Holly didn't have a choice. It was Dave Hart's decision and then subsequent ADs after.
