George Plaster leaves 104.5 The Zone | The Tennessean | tennessean.com

Sports talk radio host George Plaster has confirmed to The Tennessean that he has left WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone.

Maybe we can now get some Vols coverage on Nashville's Vol station. I was sick of hearing about Vandy, Braves, and BGA

agreed thought he was a nice guy, but when you spend 1.5 hour(s) talking baseball the monday after opening college and nfl football you dont know your audience.
dude will reemerge though count on it, some ppl in nash would run thru a brick wall for him

sure this has more to do with cumulus than ratings however

104.5 has been a Vols station for a couple of years. They actually did a pretty good job of covering the Vols. I don't care for Plaster, but thinking they were anti-UT is pure silliness

Unless he took little Willie with him, we're still going to have to hear about Vandy ad nauseum. But I am still happy at least he's gone. :dance2:

With our luck they will bring a Clay Travis James Franklin fireside chat from 4 - 6.

Where is he going? They finally probably realized that many, many people turn the station off when his show starts. I'll be daydreaming a little, pretty much on autopilot, and hear the music to Jump by VanHalen. I think I tore my elbow reaching for the channel changer too quickly.

Woah, what?

Kind of sucks. Plaster was boring but that show was better than 3HL..

Is he taking Willy with him?

It's about time that they did something about this! Now I'm looking forward to a real Vols radio show. Go Vols!

In the afternoon when Plaster was on, they had very little Vol talk. Mon thru Thur it was Vandy and the Braves. Fri it was Vandy and BGA. I don't think 104.5 was anti-UT but Plaster was.

You are select company with others who agree with you.
Very select. I don't know that I would have admitted that. George's show is meant for those who need the obvious explained to them in a pattern of redundancy.

George is at least a professional. Feel like I'm listening to amateur hour when I turn on 3HL...

The morning show was decent but I never get to listen to it.

I'd bet that has to do with the 3HL getting re upped on contracts and George, who supposedly runs the station, didn't. Or something of that nature.
George is an egomaniac. One of the biggest around.

I'd say it has nothing to do with that and everything to do with Cumulus buying the station.

Maybe in the morning or on Three Hour Lunch but not on his show from 3-4:30. That's when I listen. Cant pick up 102.5 or 560 in my office so I'm forced to listen to him if I want sports talk (no, I cannot stream at work either). I heard more about the Braves and how they might make the playoffs than the Vols.

I dont think they were anti Vol but there sure was alot more talk of other teams than the Vols is its supposed to be their Middle Tn station. Talking about Vandy and the Braves sure isnt driving anyone to listen to the Vols broadcast on Saturdays

the station was bought by one of the big radio companies and its the one he had legal issues with when he was at 99.7 and sat out for awhile on his non compete. Probably neither wanted to work with the other thus the departure.
