Final Fantasy XIII-2

Played the demo. Seems like it will be really good. Already got my copy reserved.

A lot of people complained about XIII being too linear, but this one seems to be the exact opposite. A lot of freedom and time travel. 9 different endings I think so far, and new game+ once you beat it. Lots of DLC incoming for this. Also in-game items for having a cleared save from XIII.

I like the monster recruiting and customization. Eventually you will be able to recruit other characters too, like Lightning.

I want to like FF XIII, but I can't stand the combat sequences. FF XII's open world was so much better, why Square Enix didn't include that in XIII is inexcusable.

I think most of that is because they're fugitives. Once they get to where they're no longer fugitives (Pulse), then things open up. So I think it was more of a story direction than game design direction. I don't expect they'll do it again with the backlash they got.

i'd more say FFXIV was the inexcusable one

Nerd alert:

<- this guy also played Final Fantasy Tactics. Thought that was the 2nd best out of the final fantasy series

I like Tactics a lot. Especially the PSP remake that introduced new jobs, battles, and fixed the story a bit.

The only FF I played is that one game with all the girls on it as the main characters on the ps2. Boy did I have fun with those pretty girls back in my day ; )

The mini-game where you gave this blonde chick the massage was one of my all time personal favorites

I lost interest towards the end of the last one. Doubt I will play this one. Just was not interested in the story. That and the fact that it was on rails bothered me.

I'm gonna wait for some reviews before I buy it. From what I've read so far, it hasn't done nearly what they hoped in Japan.

13 wasn't awful, but the linear restriction sucked. Easily my least favorite. I know it's supposed the be more open, but still, I'm gonna wait and see.

I hate that you couldn't really do much till the end. Then they give you some open world and freedom. And even then iirc, there was much you couldn't do until after you had beaten it. That was lame to me.

It didn't do the numbers they expected, but it was the top selling game there for a few weeks. No console games sold well cause they released Vita.

FFX is one of my favorite games of all time. I bought XIII-1 on launch day and was so pumped to play it. I just couldn't get into it. I was so attached to the X characters though.

I hated 8 when it first came out. Over the years I learned to appreciate it. Didn't really care for 9 either.

Whoa, a man after my own heart (no homo).

To me X is the Empire Strikes Back of video games (almost literally given the story).

A lot of FF games borrow heavily from Star Wars. Biggs and Wedge are even recurring characters.
