Who is the SEC would Northwestern be favored against? Maybe Candy and MZ, possibly SCe and KY? Anyone else?

AP's 22 seems about right. UT beat only Northwestern and blew 4 4th quarter leads. The future is bright but no need to celebrate mediocrity.

Can anyone explain to me why Northwestern and Florida are still in the top 25? Seeing that leaves me with little faith in this ranking. Kind of makes the Vols position sorta pointless

I'm sorry, but the Vols were much better this year than mediocre and yes the future does look bright for the Vols.

Being ranked in a Preseason poll #11 or #12 should make you happy. Tennessee has come a long way in a relatively short time.

So we just ignore the 4 losses? It doesn't matter that we were ahead late in those games either, a loss is a loss...

By the end of the season Tennessee was a much better team than Florida or Arkansas. Tennessee should have been 10-2 but I still think with a 9-4 record Tennessee should have been ranked #15-#20.

Actually I'd like to see Tenn ranked about 20 next summer. Let them earn their way up. But today is a post season poll after we've all had a chance to see 13 games or so. There aren't 20 some teams better than UT

Tennessee should have been #15-#20. Winning 6 games in a row including Bowl aint too shabby.

After how bleak it felt for a little while after the Arkansas game, this season turned out to be not too bad. The hype was a little much to begin the year so to end up where we have in most of the year end polls and such seems like a positive thing. The team could have folded and given in like we have seen in the past when it seemed the season was slipping away, but they didn't. We are relevant again in SEC discussions and have the chance to be nationally relevant next season. I think CBJ will take the rankings from this end of the year and use them as a launchpad to take the next step in the return of our beloved Vols. Go Vols!

Rankings are based on the season's body of work, not one game. Northwestern started the season off by beating Stanford 16-6. Florida beat Ole Miss and us before dropping the three last games of the year. And unfortunAtely the lizards' ranking is unaffected by the six wins based upon a juiced QB's arm. UT is just about where we should be IMO. Time to start working now for a run.

Good point. I hope the #1 ranking went to the team that didn't lose a game this year. Wait a sec, which team was it that went undefeated in 2015?
