Final days of Pruitt? What's real and NOT?

Whats real:
1) Pruitt is in trouble.
2) Many players on the team support him and legitimately threaten to leave if he goes.
3) These same players helped him go 3-7.

What's NOT real:
1) That Tennessee football is dead.
2) That our resources are less than Mizzou, Vandy, UK, Ole Miss, MSU, Arkansas, Miami, FSU, Michigan etc.
3) That even given the right coaching staff, it won't matter and we won't be able to recruit at an elite level.

I don't know if Hugh Freeze will be the guy, or Jeff Fisher or Tee Martin. What WE ALL know is that Jeremy Pruitt cannot even compete against our 3 main "rivals". And a team full of dudes that went 3-7 threatening to transfer hahaha, doesn't scare me one bit.

You accepted a scholarship to play for the University of Tennessee. Not the University of Jeremy Pruitt. If they want to break their promise because their coach sucks and needs to go than that's on them.

The right vision and right coach put in place is the priority for the University of Tennessee ALWAYS. Because the great players will see that and flock to it!

We don't need fathers demanding things for their son from a weak coaching staff. We don't need former highly ranked guys that live off their star ranking reputation into their upperclassmen years, and not putting in the real effort to be a winner. And we sure as hell don't need a coach who condones that...

It's been almost 20 years since Tennessee has been what they are truly capable of being. Time for the Bull$hit to stop!

There is NO "true fan". There is only the time a person spends to support any occupation and how much heart they put into it. So if the people in charge don't have the same heart and try their best to bring in what's needed, then don't feel bad. Walk away or not. It's not your fault either way. It's your time. Your life. Those fans that have stuck through so much terrible terrible experiences...deserve to be given a product we can be proud of.
That's reality.
Well said Little feller. Well said.

All I’ll say is that my post on VQ today ruffled some feathers inside the program because they know it’s true. It is what it is though man. Pruitt is pissed because people are seeing that this program is being ran like a circus.

I don’t even understand why Bailey would care if Pruitt left. Pruitt shut down Bailey early in fall camp denying him practice reps/development opportunities so that an inadequate senior (who Pruitt had already evaluated for two years and should have known was not the answer) could destroy UT’s 2020 season. Why? Because HB didn’t have the right look in his eyes or bark his cadences authoritatively enough? So, after a near fan revolt, Pruitt gave HB a shot but impeded his development further by auditioning him with the stronger-armed but cotton candy-brained Shrout. After being held captive to such mismanagement, why would Bailey care, knowing that Pruitt will probably screw up the Bailey/Salter rotation next year?

Based on everything I am seeing and hearing, I firmly believe we are days, NOT weeks or months from Pruitt being gone. Based on what I heard, he is finally gonna have to sit down and answer for things this week, and in all likelihood it is not going to go well. He will either be fired for cause, or they will negotiate a drastically reduced buyout. However, we are gonna get hammered by the NCAA also. So, good comes with the bad. I expect at minimum. One year bowl ban (maybe two). Multiple scholarships taken away, along with other possible sanctions as well. The more I hear about this investigation, the worse it sounds things are gonna go.

if what you are saying is true, I don’t want to hear anything about a “ negotiated buyout “. He should be fired with cause and told to clean his office and leave campus immediately.

Less scholarships is fine as long as it is more 5 stars and less 3 stars. Even with the best coach we would be a year or 2 from championships so the bowl ban thing is not a big deal overall. Let's just get a new Head Coach NOW. So over this drama.
So you actually think a 5 star recruit is going to come to a school with a bowl ban? Really? They are all about maximum exposure to help their brand with the NFL. With a bowl ban we would struggle to even get 3 stars.

If Pruitt is dirty, he should go. What i find interesting is i haven't read anything, beyond the potential one involving Mims and credit cards and/ or strip clubs, that actually lays out allegations. Most just repost speculation because they don't like him. Many of the more insane members of this site don't even care if the team faces stiff penalties from the NCAA as long as he is gone. This team is going to go into the toilet like the rest of the country for the next few years. Congratulations.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a interim. But I think you have to go with Chaney if you're going to do that. He may not be a Tennessee guy, but he definitely wants to be here. Stick OC on Tee, if he stays, and we can't find someone better.
Chaney for interim HC if needed. Maybe Ososvet for OC.

What did you hear?

I heard from an ol friend that there is a possible gambling ring going around the team. Which opens up the possibility of kids tanking games.

I don't believe that. I think we just sucked.

Did you actually hear that or joking? Sorry it’s early in the morning and my sarcasm Meter is waking up.

Exactly my thoughts. It’s time to clean house.
Coaching
Support staff
Roster

everything...

I doubt the fans would really support a total rebuild - they would expect to be competitive with Georgia, Bama and Florida in year three. That won’t happen without a good coaching staff and a deep roster. We need to hold onto as much talent as we can. Our existing talent is good enough to be at the top of the second tier SEC programs but if you drain off very much it will take a couple years of recruiting to get back to where we are now talent wise.

The delay in action is killing us and means it will be hard to sign 9 more quality players in Feb. Tennessee needs to wrap it up this week and either fire Pruitt and/or the assistants involved in the violations or make it clear he is staying.

There absolutely no proof that Pruitt has done anything. If you want him let go, fine. However, don't come on here pretending your "sources " say otherwise. Wow, everyone is guilty until proven innocent....nice.

Like you said, The players leaving are the ones who went 3-7...I think Freeze or whoever we get will get some in here that can do much better than that.

It will have no effect but if TN hires Tee Martin or Jeff Fisher I'm transferring my support.
I don't think Tennessee will hire either one of them. I could see Tennessee hiring either Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles or Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott.

Kendal Briles is going to be a good HC some day. I’m not sure about Tony Elliott just because of Chad Morris and Jeff Scott. That’s looking like the Saban tree.

Quite obvious that we are going to need to start over again at some point may as well be now. If players want to transfer because Pruitt is fired then we have to say goodbye we need to let him go.

several ask- why the hate for Phil Fulmer? What has he done wrong?

This topic deserves a thread all alone but I am gonna give my response.

His office is right next to the head coach's office. He sits in on coaches meetings. If there is a camera, he jumps in front of it. If anyone is holding a mic he is on it. He is constantly meddling!

Let me say that NO real coach is going to come here under these circumstances. If a new coach is hired, he will have to be able to take complete control of the football team.

If Fulmer cannot be dismissed once again, then he at the very least must remove his office to the building where administrators have their office. He hired the coach and assistant coaches and he must remove himself from the scene completely. If they lose, it is not because of Phil Fulmer and if they win, he is not the man to jump in front of the camera and take the credit.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! GET PHIL FULMER'S ASS OUT OF THE EQUATION NOW!

Whats True: Tennessee is throwing their coach + staff under the bus in order to save a bunch of money rather than firing the coach you don’t want and taking it on the chin. It’s a shady ass tactic to use and I’d hate for anyone to be in the position Pruitt is in.

Hehehe.
I have my opinions about that but it's for another forum 😊.
The timing is....peculiar in regards to our slide...

I have always thought the players and possible coaches gamble on the games. You just can’t play 1 half of football and in the second half disappear.
Hmmm.

I don't know. But i didn't even consider that.
Good observation.
