I do not want to make multiple posts so here they go:

I love our new coaches because they are young and hungry and great recruiters and can relate to the kids. They also have not had a big time shot (Richmond men) or were not appreciated (Drayton) and so will be committed to making Fulmer look smart. Reminds me of the Pearl hire in that regard.

Larry Slade is tired. He was rumored to be retiring for health reasons the season when Sanders was fired, but now all of a sudden he is back. He is coming off his best recruiting year, but is universally regarded as our worst recruiter. Much of his area was in VA where we lost out to VT and UVA on players especially from the Hampton Roads area that our new coaches are perfectly placed to get. Can he please retire?

Any Slade defender will say "It is all scheme" but it is not the fault of our linebackers blitzing but not getting to the QB that Julian Battle was better when he transferred than the year after. Multiple players at UT have done better from the secondary in the NFL than they did in college (they were athletes but poorly coached). That is a fact. Verron Haynes ran the same play 3 times in a row when Georgia beat us and that woke me up to pay attention to poor technique (bad tackling and/or out of position). Is Eric Berry freakishly gifted enough to cover up some mistakes? Yes...but Slade needs to go in this season of change.

Finally:
Loeffler is not coming so Mallet probably is not either. Mallet was the best offensive player in the all star game where Berry was the best defensive. He has the best arm I have seen in high school. He is a great NFL QB and would fit our system well. Anyone saying they dont want him because he went to Michigan first is a moron and would not want JP Prince or Tyler Smith or UTs best basketball team ever.

Thanks for reading, I welcome feedback.

Sorry future NFL QB. 6'6 and can throw the ball 70 yards. Unless he is a mental midget like Ryan Leaf, he will be a stud NFL QB.

Agree that we will recruit HR better. However I disagree that we are losing out to UVA and VT (see article below on that). Everyone in the country now realizes the talent coming off the peninsula and actively recruits here.

If no one is defending Slade, why is there no move towards getting someone else in. Lets not make it messy, just let the man retire.

With national signing day less than a month away, Slade is not going anywhere. It would be a mistake to throw away the realtionships he has built with little time left to fill this recruiting class.

1st post at Volnation, so hello everone

As for Mallett, Sportstalk this morning indicated that Mallett really never had any intent of coming to UT even if Loeffler took a position here.

looking at the Richmond highlight video's it appears that Mallett wouldn't fit into Clawson's scheme anyway. Heck, I'm not sure Crompton does either. It appears that Jones or Coleman may come closer to being a better fit into Clawson's scheme.

Coleman is no more mobile than Crompton.

He may not be. I just assumed because of his size and the offense he ran in H.S. he was faster. And before you say it. I know I shouldn't assume anything.

Just look at Crompton's senior year of high school rushing stats.

Then look at Coleman's.

Then look at Crompton's game experience here. Trucking a future NFL starter Landry and some Cal DB.
