Looking good?? According to Rivals, Virginia, Utah, Oregon St., Kansas, Illinois, and South Florida are all ranked ahead of UT in class ranking.

Lol on NSD i can assure you those teams will not be rated ahead of us. You go to great lengths to be negative.

I posted this earlier but will repost for additions. I am assuming the rumors are true about Miller & Kondolo so i put them into the committed category. I only updates Rivals tabs.

Let me know what everyone thinks, please let me know of any mistakes.

As of now we would rank 32 per RIVALS.

Who cares where we're ranked now. Not one recruit has signed a nli yet.

Actually, you're wrong, Harris, Johnson, Jones, Reeves-Maybin, & Vereen all signed their NLI's. haha j/k

It's only for illustrative purposes & something to pass the time until Feb 6th.

I think I have to agree with fade. I guess its a positive we even still have a shot with these guys but in terms of looking good we are far from that.

An athletic dept 200M in debt, getting spurned by green, losing recruits to arky, and even having a player in the super bowl use the podium in order to absolutely rip into TN. It seems it doesn't look good to me. Why do I feel like we battle these things every single year?

We will have a good NSD. Green was not likely to be a vol, and anyone who follows recruiting knew this. He never came back for an unofficial so that did us in. Skipper was gonna flip and we knew this, it was no surprise. And why the hell did Pat Willis end up at Ole MISS? Bama, Florida, USC, and none of the other big names were knocking on his door. These things happen just like Kentucky with Chris Loften.

Come on! In fairness, back in the day, Fulmer and Co. were pulling 5-10 guys out of the top 150 every year. You hit some you miss some. If Patrick Willis has to have a Big Orange Screw to motivate himself, then maybe that chip is what made him what he is. His next best offer was Ole Miss.

The battles we've been losing is not recognizing the good thing when we had it and the grass is always greener mindset some of our alumni and fans propogate. Then the university siphons $6 mil or so a year from the athletic department and we are where we are. How many presidents have we had in the last 15 years? Straightening this ship has to start at the top and work it's way down. We're getting there. I'm encouraged by what CBJ has accomplished in 2 months on the job.

Check the LB's we signed the year before and the next 2 years after the Willis snub (who was a 60th ranked 3 star LB if we're hung up on that). Chief was hauling in mostly 4 star backers like Omar Gaither, Robert Ayers, Jerod Mayo and Rico McCoy besides the swing and miss on 5 star Daniel Brooks, 4 star Gerald Williams. We were not crying in our Cornflakes about missing out on Patrick Willis back in the day when Ole Miss beat Memphis for his services.

That $200M in debt is just another deceitful article by a reporter puke in USA Today. The $200M is mostly long term debt against all of the new facilities that were built. Just about any school that has constructed facilities has a debt like this. Gullible people believe this stuff because they lap up media agendas.

UT's finances are not in the greatest shape, but it is certainly not $200M in debt. The $200M is spread over several years out with donations promised against it over several years. Also, the debt and operations will be helped by the huge TV revenues in the coming years.

I am not sure how it will all shake out in the end...but I have read nothing but positive things about Tennessee and CBJ and Co. since they jumped on the recruiting trail....mere weeks ago! Recruits are excited and positive about their inhomes and OV's and High School coaches (especially in Tennessee!) have been reporting good things about the coaches and the future of the program. All good things! Also, to say we were "spurned" by Green is a little over the top! It was exciting to think that perhaps he would put on that orange hat but 99.9% of the lean was Michigan from the get go. So...I saw it as GOOD that our hat was even sitting on the table! There are always a few guys that jump ship during a coaching change or before NSD for other programs and there are a ton of factors that play into a recruit's decision to do that....even programs like USC, Florida, and Bama will lose some commits along the way. And YES it IS "positive that we even still have a shot with these guys"...it is awesome really...I mean, considering the last 5 years...and a brand new, barely known coaching staff. I really can't find the negative right now. We shall see on Feb. 7th. But today...it looks great! JMO.

You guys are missing he point... its all about perception. People outside of volnation look at these things in a negative light and all I'm saying is that they continue to pile up. Yes I can go back and validate every little thing that has happened to us over the past few years but it doesn't change the outside view of our university

our recruiting rankings are low because we only have 16 commitments. let's all take a deep breath and relax, we'll be fine.

Perception changes really quickly when a program starts winning. And...honestly, if Penn freaking State can still have a decent recruiting class (based on the outside perception factor) then I like our chances to turn things around. Go Vols!

If we Get all of those targets we would be sitting at 7th right now just above USC

You are spot on. The rest of the college football world looks at us with a big yawn. We are an "also ran" in he eyes of just about every recruit. I like Butch so far, but we have no idea how he'll do here or his ability to recruit long term in the SEC.

You have a very good point. It gets frustrating sometimes being a titans and vols fan

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and just let things flow from now until Feb. 6th. This happens every year, we as fans get so invested in the recruiting process that we are prisoners of this process.

I follow it closely as well and up until three years ago I would be living or dying depending on who we signed or didn't sign. Three years ago my first grandchild was born on October 5th. All the time I used to spend in November, December and January following Vols recruiting efforts were used to play with my grandson. By the time I realized it, I was no longer stressing about the Vols recruiting.

I now keep up with it but in a different context. Do I want them to do well? Yes. Do I hope they land a top 10 or 20 class each year? Yes. Do I still watch UT football, basketball, lady's basketball, baseball and lady's softball games? Yes.

Only now I do it with a whole lot of less stress. I refuse to let some 18 year old that I have no connection with determine if my day good or bad. Try it. It will make you feel so much better to just let it go and let things flow.

I thought Swafford was a preferred walk-on, not a scholarship player.
