Fifteen years ago this weekend, I completed my initiation into the Vol Nation when I stepped onto the Neyland turf for the first time in front of a crowd so loud I could not hear anything coming out the end of my horn. I remember the tears welling up in my eyes when hitting my spot opening the T and the crowd going completely bonkers as the team ran through. It was an amazing experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

To all the football players, band members, cheerleaders, and fans who will step foot in Neyland for their first game today, welcome to the family. To be a Vol is to be a part of something special. May your first game day experience be a positive, memorable, and life-changing one!

First game in 1966. I still love the feeling. Heard Rocky Top yesterday and goose bumps came as always. Now my grandchildren embelish the tradition. GO VOLS!
