I've started a career as the manager for Partick Thistle, which is an absolutely God-awful Scottish Premier League Team. I'm doing well and I've split with Celtic so far this year (who has like 50x the transfer funds as I do, but I digress). Love this game so far.

Good move. I love the online pro career where you can be in a squad

I've noticed this years career mode is much different than last years. Can I not search for a player on the transfer market and make a bid? I'm pretty confused.

I don't know. The whole global transfer network or whatever its called is confusing.

I thought it was a scouting network for youngins for the youth acedemy. If it's just to scout players in general I'm a bit confused on why they would go in that direction

how often do you guys rely on skill moves vs. working the ball around to the open attacker?

Everytime I try to pull a skill move I usually fail miserably.

I rarely use skill moves. Unless a have a really bad ass player. I work the ball from side to side and back sometimes. I try not to force it.

I suck at them, usually a feint and a quick burst of sprint helps, the key is doing it from about 10' out

Does anybody know how to adjust the tactics such that your defense will ratchet up the pressure even the slightest? I constantly face AI teams that play suffocating defense and contest possession almost from the second I receive a pass, yet no matter what I do, every guy on my team that I don't control ALWAYS stands 5 yards off the man they are marking and allows them to receive any and all passes. Surely there has to be a way turn up the heat on defense at least a little, I just haven't figured it out yet.

Maybe there really is no way to change it. I've tinkered with it over the past 2-3 versions of this game and have yet to unlock the mystery of how to do it.

Idk. I usually play on World Cup or Legend and I get taken to pound town at times, but can't seem to figure out how to apply the pressure. I think you're right, no easy way to do it

The worst is when the CPU get 5-6 guys in or around the 18, and they just pass you to death because the CPU won't tighten up on them and the second you manually switch trying to press the ball and it gives you control of a guy you weren't expecting and you go the wrong way just for a second, you're usually screwed.

Yeah I put mine on manual switch. If you don't, they always get opportunities due to the CPU switching whike you're in mid sprint

I usually play with it set to auto-switch on air balls, but do it manually on everything else. If I play a team that plays a lot of long balls over the top to its strikers, I'll put it to full manual because otherwise one of my CB's will get left in the dust before I can really get control of him.
