I just started my first UT today. You can get lost in it. Pro clubs is still my thing though. Where are all the xbox clubbers?

So on the career mode, is the only way to improve your character through the accomplishments? Just started a season and my guy is so slow, but I can't figure out a way to increase his ratings other than the milestones, which unfortunately are mainly just tied to matches played for speed/stamina. That's kind of frustrating.

I also seem to get hurt every game, I guess I sprint too much(?) but then I lose game rating for being out of position.

Only spent when you need to to save energy. THe only is to do oaccomplishments, it is tough at first.

Also (assuming the achievements are structured similarly to 12) start off as a midfielder -- you'll knock out more stamina achievements.

Thanks for the info. I may start over my career. Made my guy my height/weight and he's getting outran to every single loose ball. I stink at winning headers, so the height aint helping anyway....

It sucks you can't be tall and fast but it really sucks that you cant align a fixed number of skill points yourself like in the older versions. I think I'll just make a shorter guy becaue playing in like 100 matches would only raise speed/stamina to low 70s.

Yeah it is tough, my guy is like a 6'3 striker.

Playing at 6'3 lets you be more of a bully in the box. Every good squad needs one bully in the box.

I'm awful with the ball in the air. Maybe I should do some of the tutorials. I'll probably just make my guy a wee little fellow.

Remember the yellow marker is where the ball will hit the ground if not hit by a player. Like a db or wr in football, you have to high point the ball.

Oh yeah, my dude is a beast in the box.

If I'm playing with a striker, I prefer to make my VP around 6'0"/6'1" and 180-ish

You can make runs reasonably well but can also stay on the ball if you play right and be reasonably good at battling in the air.

If anyone is into manager mode, be sure to check the young free agent market at the very beginning of year 2. 18yr old 6'6" 207lb ST w/ 85 speed, accel and balance & 80 finishing. 73 rating at 18 years old. There are 3 or 4 other players also but he is first one i see.

Surprised there aren't more posts in here. Picked this game up a few days ago and can't put it down. Deepest manager mode ever, new first touch system is great, player physics have been fixed, and graphics are awesome as usual. FIFA is easily the best sports based game out there right now, has been for awhile now. Playing on World Class in manager mode while I get uses to the new first touch system, 9-1-0 with Real Madrid right now. Great game.

Let me preface this by saying that Fifa 12 was probably my favorite sports game of all time. However the words do not exist to describe how much I hate the '13 version of this game. Nevertheless,I'm about to try. I've had this game since the week it was released and so far have managed to win exactly 1 out of probably 20 games I've played so far, with several draws mixed in there. A few bullet points...

-The lone win that I managed to get was against Manchester United, which speaks to a bigger issue that has existed with this series for years but seems to be magnified this year. There seems to be some sort of equalizing element that essentially makes it tougher to beat the crap teams than it is to beat the best ones. I shouldn't be able to beat beat Man U by 2 goals and then the very next game get knocked out of the League Cup 0-3 by Northampton Town. That's ridiculous.

-This so called "innovation" that is the first touch system sucks big time. While it may be realistic it's really just frustrating when you'll be building some good possession only to lose the ball because of a random bad touch.

-The pinpoint accuracy with which the CPU plays the long ball is MADDENING. Once you lose the ball because of the bad first touch they habitually launch a perfect pass to an off-screen player, leaving you to have to first get your guy in position using only the radar, which rarely works.

-Why the hell are the CPU controlled players on your own team so ****ing passive? The only way to get somebody to chase a lose ball is to get control of them, which normally takes 2 or 3 taps on the switch button to get the right guy.

-The other option is to have the auto-switch in full effect, which really isn't an option at all because you can't really afford to have random switches happen while you're trying to defend. 90% of the goals I allow are directly caused by the ****ty switching system which never gives you the right guy and inevitably leads to you running defenders out of position and goals being scored.

-I hate how the CPU is able to play such suffocating defense where 2 players are on just about every player I pass to, but no amount of messing with the tactical sliders can get my defenders to play closer than 10 yards to their assigned man. This means you either constantly get picked to death by short passes, or have to sprint defenders out of position to try and steal the ball.

-The Tactical Defending control set up is still awful this year, but has actually now been upgraded to being the lesser of two evils. What that really means is that the your defenders are so passive and so far from the ball at all times, you are left with no choice but to play Tactical controls because the "contain" button isn't available on Legacy. So now it's just a game of contain until the CPU either takes a shot and hope you save/block it, or hope they just lose the ball.

-Crossing is still almost worthless this year. With the CPU able to play such suffocating defense, getting the room get a good cross is tough, and when you finally do, it rarely ends up going in the direction of one of your own players, and is cleared easily.

That's the bad. What sucks most is that outside the actual gameplay, career mode is AWESOME this year. If only there were some way to pair FIFA 13's awesome career mode with FIFA 12's infinitely superior gameplay. Oh well, maybe next year.

I love the game, the realistic of first touch is great. I play on PS3 and when the ball is coming to me I pull L2 and it helps with the ball not bouncing off my player like crazy. It also depends on the players skill level.

Everything you just described has been a problem with this game for years.
