Ferguson Riots

For me personally, news of civil unrest and violence fueled by people with education levels of a 7th grader tend to make my short game jittery.

Not me, tip the cart girl an extra $5 - feel good about the decisions you've made in your life and remember to restock the Bud Light at the turn.

Just for the record....has anyone seen or heard from our great leader Moochelle today....oops I meant BO?

Just curious , what is it you want Obama to do? Send in the army?

You must be Part of the tea partiers who scream Obama needs to do more and then sue him when he does?

This is a state issue. It's the MO gov's issue, not Obamas.

Then he should stop making ignorant comments about the situation

I was going to give you a like, but then you ruined it by saying Bud Light.

The best are the race baiters claiming this is an elaborate scheme to undermine Obama and Holder.

Lot's of crazy people out there.

Bc if he says nothing..... Republicans scream he's doing nothing. It's a lose lose for him.

Completely wrong. He somehow feels the need to randomly insert himself into situations where he doesn't belong. He should shut up about local politics and just go back to his vacation

Yea, I find it hard to make a three foot putt with all this madness going on in the background. I know...I know.... I need to work on my concentration.

It would be nice for the POTUS to show some leadership, Condemn the lawlessness and offer support to the governor in an attempt to show this behavior is not acceptable. Instead, he has either said nothing or came across as a sympathizer of these lawless thugs. "It's ok to loot, pillage, burn and who knows what else as long as it is in the name of free speech".

Dear Abbey:

“There is also no excuse for police to use excessive force against peaceful protests or to throw protesters in jail for lawfully exercising their First Amendment rights,” Obama said, as he described 18-year-old Michael Brown’s shooting by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who was later identified as Darren Wilson.

I think you are confused. If you are addressing "Abigail Van Buren" the correct name is Abby as in Dear Abby.

Obama just spoke and blamed the system while understanding the frustration of the community. Not once did he talk about decision making or personal responsibility. Not once did he mention parenting. Not one time did he mention the all day every day black on black murders and murderers.

I didn't hear all of it but he talked about violence not being the answer.

I would have imagined that it would be illegal even under state orders. I would have assumed the military would always get precedence over civilian law enforcement in chain of command.

It's not "military" per se. When the State activates a Guard unit, they are under State orders and State control. Meaning they can do anything from assisting local police restore order or disaster relief. They aren't technically part of the Federal Armed Forces at that point (although yes, being an "armed force" in some instances) as that violates federal law.

As for chain of command purposes, the NG will almost always defer to the judgment of local authorities on scene, assuming there are local authorities. For "chain of command" purposes, the NG will still retain their own chain of command, but receive taskings from the local civil authorities.
