Did anybody see the interview with the mom of Michael Brown on Good Morning America? Obviously emotional, but it makes me wonder why the media trots out the parents in these circumstances? What do they expect to happen?

Can some one tell me how much more authority or power the NG will have over what the police have?

Will they be allowed more latitude than the local,county and state police units?

The facts should be released prior to ANYONE making a determination. There is no excuse for bad behavior from ANYONE.... The media is a whore and I know better than to believe early reports that are designed to get ratings. Hell, everyone should know better. I'm embarrassed for America right now, we're better than this.

That's a good question. I would assume since the Chief is elected and answers to the Mayor who is elected and answers to the Governor who deploys the troops..the NG might be in charge. In the end they will let the locals prosecute folks I think.

That's just my assumption..the guys with tanks and grenade launchers are probably in charge.

They are there to handle mass arrests if and when the Governor declares martial law. Seems like it is headed that way if this ish continues. Shades of 1968.

Look up martial law, rights get suspended.

What they really need is some monsoon rains for 40 days, that would "dampen" the protesters enthusiasm.

Ear plugs = rubber bullets to this new media. Even bring out a hose to put out a house fire and they would flashback with scenes from the 60s

My question is: will the NG be controlled by the state or the fed?

The state had had control, and to their best efforts(hands being tied) it's been a mess.

I stand with the truth and justice... (sound the trumpets).. It's not always easy to do the right thing after something wrong has happened, but that's what makes us who we are. My biggest fear is that there will be some knee jerk reaction that changes procedure for all LE in the future. Similar to the profiling logs that were mandated prior to 911.

Governor controls the NG in this instance. If the NG can't handle it, then the Governor calls for Federal assistance, then it gets REAL.

Here's what happened in April 1968:

The Baltimore Riot of 1968 was composed of black Baltimoreans lasting from April 6 to April 14. The riot included crowds filling the streets, burning and looting local businesses, and confronting the police and national guard.

The immediate cause of the rioting was the April 4 assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis, Tennessee, which triggered riots in 125 cities across the United States. These events are sometimes described as the Holy Week Uprising.[1]

Spiro T. Agnew, the Governor of Maryland, called out thousands of National Guard troops and 500 Maryland State Police to quell the disturbance. When it was determined that the state forces could not control the riot, Agnew requested Federal troops from President Lyndon B. Johnson.
