It’s all water under the bridge, but you can’t deny that he gave most of us alive the best years of Tennessee football. Also, allowing him to get Taj Boyd here to run Clawson’s offense would have been better than wandering around football purgatory for a decade.Yeah 01-03. He didn't accomplish that in his last 5yrs coaching
I hope he's paying you to post this nonsense
Two ten win seasons out of the past three and building the program around a freshman while also beating two of our biggest rivals; Bama and Florida.
Go Big Orange
Fulmer never intended to allow Clawson to run anything. Getting drilled like last night against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl at the end of one season, and then going undefeated and winning the Natty the next year was great coaching and the pinnacle of a career. I agree. I was in Miami for that Orange Bowl and can tell you that Nebraska team was pure domination. It wasn’t like Saturday night and OSU couldn’t hold a candle to them. But, just as with all of the few losses with Manning, I felt there was a chance to come back.Getting drilled like last night against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl at the end of one season, and then going undefeated and winning the Natty the next year was great coaching and the pinnacle of a career. There were lots of people that I knew who wanted Fulmer Fired from day one. That's just the way it is. They would happily tell you too if you didn't hate the team, players, and staff you were "not a true vol fan". I've heard this stuff my whole life.Yet most on here want coaches fired.
This. I also don’t feel like I felt during the Fulmer heyday, when I was confident we could go toe to toe with anyone in the country - largely because we had talent and position coaches like Cutcliffe and Chavis, who were proven commodities. The vibe I get from the Heupel era thus far is we’re good, but not quite ready for prime time. Wait and see.I hear ya but read the room. You don’t come in here with the full rah rah rah, after they laid that turd on the field last night.
Let everyone absorb that utter failure by coaches and players before stepping back into the bigger picture. Or at least have a lighter footprint.
You mean like getting beat 63-37 at Florida? Or getting drilled two years later as a double digit favorite? Or maybe getting down 35-0 in between at home. We had no chance in two of those gamesI agree. I was in Miami for that Orange Bowl and can tell you that Nebraska team was pure domination. Next year-15-0!
10 wins is “slightly “above average?![]()
You don’t just get to wake up and be a champion. 10 win seasons puts you in the mix. I get it you’re upset, we all are. But step back and look at the trajectory of the program, we will be a 10 + winning team for the near future and an opportunity to compete for those championships. It takes steps to get to the top of the mtn, and we took one this year. We all want it now, but appreciate the process and climb to the top my friend. GBOLets give each player a Trophy to go along with the 10 Wins
NO one gives a hoot about the wins without a better showing. Most programs play for A championship.
The also rans talk about W's....if it doesnt get to a Championship.
We lost in the Sweet 16. Good Season. Will it get better?
