I enjoyed this. Not saying it means anything at all:

Ryan thinks highly of Ainge, who held off Pizzotti with his solid play in training camp.

“We have a super No. 3 quarterback. That’s what he’s shown me," the coach said. "Could he be a No. 2 or a starter in this league? Probably. When we ended up drafting Sanchez, I never thought we could split the reps three ways. Is it fair to him? All he does is go out and play.

"Will he get a chance one day to be the starting quarterback of the Jets? He may. Joe Flacco went into the second-to-last preseason game [for the Ravens last year] as the No. 3 quarterback and the rest is history.”

He should get a fair chance to play in a real game and show people what he has. This is all politics and money. I think he could be a good starter if he'd ever get a chance.

Not trying to dog you but this is the NFL. the coaches are not just going to throw him in a real game unless the other 2 in front of him get hurt or are sucking it up real bad.

I have not seen him since he left UT but I hope he put on about 30 pounds of lean muscle or some big D-lineman is going to snap him like a twig.

I think he will open some eyes if he ever gets a shot with the ones. I was amazed that Ryan came around enough to say what he did. Maybe there's hope.

More likely Ainge need to go some other teams to have better chance to play more. Sorry but Mark Sanchez pretty much their QB full time now. As long Ainge is the 3rd place in QB with the jets, he not going to see much playing time.:peace2:

:eek:lol: What does that mean?

Is it that hard to admit he will not start over a QB that the Jets gave 20+ million to?

Ainge is playing well, but on average or bad teams, the 2nd and 3rd string QB's are always the most popular.....

yeah, but this is a different case since they just last year drafted who the fans feel will be the next joe namath and are just waiting for his natural rookie development to pass

or simply, they're excited about the first guy getting better and are waiting; he's not playing terribly

well that somewhat. there's also the thing with the NFL rules of you can't put in your 3rd string qb till you deactivate one of the first two for the rest of game...you can't just throw in whoever willy-nilly. And most coaches don't like taking the risk of making their starter deactivated for an entire game

Hey I would trade jobs with Ainge anyday...get paid a ton to practice football not bad, not bad at all.

Well, Ainge only threw one pass in the game tonight (didn't get to play until 4:09 left in the fourth). It went 70 yards for a touchdown.

One for one resulting in a 70 yard touchdown? Not a bad statistic to have on the sheet... :cool2:

I think somewhere like the Vikings, Seahawks, Panthers or Texans would be a better fit. These are fairly good teams and their QB's are either hurt much of the time or the QB situation is still in flux. I fully expect to see Favre banged up by the latter third of the season. He's just too old and his body has been banged up for almost two decades...no matter what he thinks he has left. His body will remind him that it's not up for another full season.

Matt Moore is currently the most popular quarterback among Panthers fans. He's third string btw.
Ainge needs to get in as a solid #2 somewhere. Too bad he didn't win that job in NY. I just don't see Mark Sanchez impressing as a rookie starter in that division. The NE and Miami defenses will eat him alive.

Sounds like Ainge is working hard and impressing coaches. He may not start/be 2nd string for a while, but at least he's getting paid in the NFL. Not a whole lot of QB's can say that.

Not a huge Ainge homer, but watching them play it is obvious to me that he is better than Clemmons. Wondering if they are trying to sell Clemmons as a good backup (for trade purposes) all the while knowing Ainge is better.
