Look.

I’ve had this philosophy for a decade. Yeah. The whole time we’ve sucked.

It’s not moral. It’s not sportsmanlike. It’s probably traceable back to being from the south. Whatever.

The philosophy is this: If you can’t beat them- make them fear you. Make them pay a price for stepping into the field with you.

How? Play a little dirty. Take some penalties for targeting, late hits, rough the passer all night.

It’s like hockey. Pull some guys up from the practice squad and make them enforcers. When Billy Bob or Tyrone come onto the field people know someone’s getting clobbered.

I don’t want any kids permanently injured. I just want the entire team thanking god the game is over as their whole body aches.

Think Raiders. You don’t want to run out of bounds on their side. You might disappear and be found at the bottom of the river.

They would retaliate? Nah. Here’s why. They have way more to lose than we do. We aren’t playing for championships. We aren’t worried about the playoff. We’re playing to hurt you and take from you. That’s all.

You know what- maybe it’s a good thing I’m not a coach. I’d get arrested.

Yeah. Never mind.

Forget I said anything.

This is dumb. Great defenses who are big and fast and hit hard and play with energy and aggression.

And bad defenses who aren't so they pretend by playing dirty.

No one has ever confused the latter with the former. It makes you look like a clown to encourage that.

Hence my user name. Glad someone finally figured it out. (Although we have not struck much fear in the SEC lately)

So what happens when the team with better athletes and a deeper bench starts returning the favor? Types like the op calling for this type of bs would be the first ones crying about the other team not playing fair. We don't need to resort to playing like some dirty little punk bitches. Period.

Why not bring concealed weapons in on most plays-razors, poison tipped darts etc.??? Are you serious? NCAA might "kill the program" for a few years if what you're suggesting became reality. Not to mention, our players must go to other schools to play a few games, once this crap starts, players get suspended, other teams retaliate, and no one with a brain or talent wants to Play for Tennessee. I hope this entire string is a joke.

I’m not sure what stage of grief this is...
