Of course, Trump wasn't the guy; he's completely unfit for the job. I don't know enough about him to say for sure, but someone like Rex Tillerson would seem an excellent fit to me. From the outside he's quiet, calm, reserved - gives you the impression of someone who can and will act but with consideration and with deliberation. Something like actually having an adult in the midst of DC chaos.
In the end and particularly with the total war waged against Trump, I doubt that many outsiders would find the backing and the desire to take his place. The one time Rs and Ds will fight together is to preserve what they have - outsiders and an alternate party are immediate enemies - far more so than the other party.
We could all write an expansive dissertation on this topic, but Trump won for a reason. And hell get re-elected for that same reason. Hes got flaws, more than most, but who the hell don't, at least he gives a damn and aint gonna let the DC Swamp (at least hell put up a street fight when necessary) get in his way from the end goals and campaign promises.
Trump was a horrible pick and that is becoming increasingly clear with each passing day. The outsider concept was fine, the candidate was abysmal.
95 more days......max
95 days! I'll mark my calender! Left wing nation will be dancing in the streets on what will soon become a federal holiday, "Mike Pence day"! Congratulations will be in order due to finally getting a president in office who is in lock step with their ideals... wait a minute...
Pence isn't an unhinged, serial lying, deviant, corrupt moron like Trump. When the Dems take back Congress in 6 months he'll be an impotent lame duck.
You're quivering with anticipation. Congratulations on your monumental (soon to be) victory. The history books probably won't have you in the footnotes, but your contributions have been tremendous. Mike Pence owes you a totally non-homosexual hug. He's praying over all of his supporters.

No, then we'll have to move the investigation into finding a way to try Pence for treason as well.
LULZIf anyone's interested, here's a link to the government's opposition to Cohen's request for a TRO. Lays out in some detail the procedure that would be followed by the review team and how they'd be isolated from the investigators/prosecutors.
Why would Pence be investigated? That makes no sense.
Is he suspected of collusion, obstruction of justice, perjury, breaking campaign financing laws, or money laundering? If so, then I guess he would need to be investigated.
