Favorite UT/UF game moments

Wilhoits kick, 2004. That was absolutely crazy, people (including myself) were running around screaming, high fiving, and chest bumping total strangers...good times lol

My wife and I were included in the raucous that ensued. Awesome ending.

My family moved to Tennessee in April 1998. I never understood or cared about football before then. I remember switching on the radio for the 4th quarter of the Florida game just out of curiosity. John Ward's call in OT sent chills down my spine. Since then, I like to say that the Florida game day is "the most important day of my year" - I get some funny looks when I say that, but I mean it.

Three years later, I was on a field trip to Washington, D.C. in December. I remember sitting in a hotel in the suburbs of Baltimore, my hands shaking in excitement. "I don't know why, but I know we're going to win this game," I told my little brother. The first time John Chavis's DLine came out in that weird formation, all of them standing up and shifting around, and Grossman looked like a confused child, I laughed. We had them.

I can't wait to feel that way again.

to rile some feathers, i am partly going with jabar gaffneys miraculous drop in the endzone with very little time left in 2000 to seal the deal. :p

my serious answer is 1999 when alex brown had a monster game (5 sacks?) where uf won a close, and hard fought game from both sides.

What is your favorite moment in ut/uf lore? It doesn't have to be a game you attended.

Wilhoit misses the extra point and everyone thinks the games over. Comes back and hits a 50+ yarder. And the crazy pass interference call that kept us alive.

1996

When the score was 35-0, I literally started laughing. All the pregame hype for that game and the newly expanded stadium.

Priceless

That was a horrible game. I think we scored 31 straight after that but still a loss which is what counts.

And I'm going to go with Dallas Baker losing a slap fight and costing his team the game.

Because I was there. One of the most epic moment in my life

Sadly, that is the only win my wife has seen in Neyland stadium in about 15 tries.

UF choking that easy field goal in OT in 98 was the best moment in the series! I partied all night in knoxville and don't even remember half of that late night.

First time poster...I've been to Kville 5 times and i'm up 3 and down 2 (92,98). For the most part, all great games and great fans. I understand the frustration surrounding the Gaffney catch, but the worst call of the series has to be the ending of the 04 game.

Good luck next week and beyond.

Listen, he still had to hit a 51 yarder. The bad call with Gaffney GAVE Fla a TD. Not even close.

Good point. He did hit the 50 yarder only because the clock operator gave him that chance. Gaffney's catch/non-catch was on 2nd down. Still had two more tries.

My favorite moment was winning at Gainesville in 2001. However, it is also the cause of one my biggest feelings of dread I've ever felt related to sports. I knew we were in trouble after winning in 2001 because Casey Clausen and a bunch of guys got off the bus for the pep rally after flying back from Gainesville holding roses in their mouths. I went from being euphoric at the W, to thinking that was a bad sign. We still had to play LSU, and of coure we lost later that week causing us to miss out on the Rose Bowl. I still wonder what could've happened if they hadn't been so cocky...

You wonder what could've happened? Florida would've stomped LSU in Atlanta and went on to the Rose Bowl. damn 9/11 crap.

My last season as a student in 1990 when Dale Carter returned the second half kick-off for a touchdown and the route was on is one of my favorites. 45-3 Vols.

That was my first season as a student. Good times.

'92 was a lot of fun in the downpour, too.

During the '97 game (Peyton's SR year), Doug Johnson got absolutely clobbered near the UT sideline. UT players started woofing at him, and Doug responded by pointing up at the scoreboard.

Yeah, and Miami would have curb stomped our John Hoke-led defense in the Rose Bowl....their secondary matched up perfectly with our receivers.

That '01 Miami team was downright scary.

2001 without a doubt. Stephens running wild; especially since we were double digit under dogs..

Not one of my favorite moments, but I remember Jamal Lewis trucking Marquand Manuel in the '99 "Alex Brown" game. I had seats down low that game, and I remember Jamal being bigger than our linebackers.
