Favorite UT game

First time poster here...
All time favorite game was probably the Sugar Bowl v. Miami on January 1, 1986 followed closely by the 1990 blowout of Florida my Sophomore year. I'll never forget that kickoff return to open the second half.
Of course that game was followed later that season by the worst game I ever saw at Neyland but that's a topic for a different thread.
Go Vols!

We cheated, didn't we? (Serious Q)

Meh....you got an assist from the clock operator following a questionable personal foul call.

It really was no worse than the Jabar Gaffney catch.

By that time Zook had us so beaten down as a fan base, we expected to lose games like that.

AND Jabars catch was on 2nd down from the redzone, with time left for more plays. The clock "error" allowed time for a FG (game-winning) that shouldn't have happened.

but from a pure football standpoint, I think the Kentucky game of '07 was great. Action from the first pass for a TD all the way through four grueling OT's. I was moved by the heart our team (both teams really) displayed during that game. It was one of the few times that I'd seen our team visibly want a game. It was awesome to watch and I've never been so into a game in all my life. My favorite!

In hindsight everything worked out fine.

Zook wound up losing a couple more games he shouldn't have (blew a lead against LSU and we crapped the bed at Mississippi State), and he got his walking papers. I swear had I been at that Mississippi State game in '04 I would have stormed the field and helped those kids tear down the goalposts.

for me one of my all-time favorites was '03 Miami.... 10-6 victory for the BIG ORANGE! one of the most defensively dominated games i've ever seen and i just remember Brock Berlin was on his @$% the whole time. and then of course who can forget Mr. Soldier Kellen Winslow's crybaby meltdown in the locker room after that game LMFAO!!!

YouTube - Kellen Winslow is a soldier

1) 04 Florida
2) 04 Georgia- I was dating a girl who went to UGA. We were more than a 15 point underdog on the road. It was beautiful.

3) I always want to say 01, Florida game, but my mind wont let me think about it without thinking about what happened the following week.

I cant believe that no one mentioned the 03 Bama game, Casey converted on 4th and 19 in overtime. It was so epic.

'01 Florida

I was in 2nd grade at the time and I remember staying up with my dad and watching the game. My 2nd grade teacher was a huge Vol fan and another 2nd grade teacher was from Florida so the whole week before the game my teacher would send me into her the other teachers classroom with different Tennessee gear, posters etc.

My answers to these type questions covers only the games I was at. Important factor to me is excitement felt by myself, crowd, team and game

# 1 Notre Dame 1991
# 2 Sugar Bowl 1985
# 3 Florida 2001
# 4 Alabama 1982
# 5 Alabama 1985
# 6 Alabama 1995
# 7 Florida 1998
# 8 Notre Dame 1990
# 9 Cotton Bowl 1989
# 10 Georgia 2006

that is kind of my list. seems it changes frequently as I recall different games...

I would have to agree with most of these but I would have to throw in the 98' Arkansas game in there and dont forget the 07' Kentucky game.

It's difficult for me to elevate a Kentucky game to that level. Yes it was a good close game but we are supposed to beat Kentucky 50 to 7 with our 2 nd or 3rd string

Man, our old teams used to play with so much heart, and we were good in all three phases of the game. Not to mention all the great players that were on the team like Andy Kelly, Dale Carter, and Carl Pickens. My second favorite would be the Sugar bowl against Miami ,when no one gave us a shot in hell and we pulled it off.

I agree with most posted. One game i don't see on here worth mentioning is Alabama 1996 with both teams ranked in top 10, and TN pulls out the Fourth Quarter win! Great game.

Yea but that game got us to the SEC Champ Game and I was at that game and I never seen so many UK fans crying and mad at the same time.

Hmmm this will be tough.

#1 - 1998 Florida - Growing up Florida was our nemisis and something about the atmosphere that night was special. I remember hugging so many random people then looking down and the entire field was coverd and the goalpoast were being passed around the crowd! So amazing!

#2 - 2004 Florida - Was in the student section with at ton of fraternity brothers and we were all so into the game...never heard Neyland louder than when that kick went through the uprights!

#3 - 1998 Arkansas - My dad was packing up ready to leave and I told him that we still had a chance two plays before the fumble! Had a feeling of disbelief once it was over.

#4 - 2006 Georgia - This one was more because of personal reasons than the actual game, in the middle of the UGA student section with one other TN fan. We got bashed/barked at the whole first half...lets just say they were very quiet by time we were recovering the blocked punt for a TD!

#5 1998 SEC Championship - Such a great atmosphere and just that feeling knowing that once we one we were going to the NC was so cool! Great game too.

#6 2006 Cal - I got kicked out of the stadium on the way in for trying to sneak liqour in the student gate...but I didn't let that detur me, I sprinted from the South side of the stadium all the way to the Money wall took out 60 bucks, bought a ticket on the street and went right to where my original student seat was right as the team ran through the T...what a great way to start a season!

#7 - 2002 Arkansas - Went to the game alone, and have never been more zoned into a game...I ended up in the newspaper with a picture of my hands over my face too the next day reacting to all the drama!

#8 - 2009 South Carolina - Halloween night, black Jerseys, rain, romp, sooo fun.

I have been to so many other big wins, but these are the ones that stick out for whatever reason.
