Favorite Tennessee quarterback not named Peyton?

Whenever I think of Tony Robinson, I think of '85 Auburn.

I was about to post his 14-1 road record. Remember the lone loss?

His overall record was pretty good, too. He was 34-10.

What's your favorite Shuler memory?

The Iceman's lone SEC road loss was at Auburn in 2003. A game in which he almost lead UT to a 4th quarter comeback.

Truth is - my FAVORITE is Jusin Worley. His commitment, leadership, persistence, attitude, and courage make him my all-time favorite UT quarterback.

PS - I loved watching CH play!

Edit - my second favorite is Jimmy Streater (the Sylva Streak) because he was quarterback when I was a student! :) (confession, I forgot abut him until I went back and read all the posts before mine )

When I think of Casey, one of the games that always pops into my mind is the 2001 Citrus Bowl rout of Michigan.

I always will remember him draining the swamp twice, beating bama 3 times but most of all was the 6 OT game I attended when Clausen found Witten over the middle to seal the deal against arkansas!!

Here is how I always rate my favorites: "Who would I pick to be on my team today?"

My answer would be Heath Shuler hands down. I would even give him a slight push over Peyton. We are talking about collegiate level, and Shuler just had it all. Tough, pure cannon, and could run it as well as any other quarterback we have ever had.

Andy Kelly waddled like a duck in comparison. He was like Darryl Dickey, manager of a damn fine overall team. A good manager, but I never think of him as a good QB talent that made plays on his own. Those teams were LOADED.

Casey Clausen.

4th and 19 pass to CJ Fayton in Tuscaloosa to force overtime. Still the best game I've ever attended, and I was at 98 and 04 FL and 03? Arky 6 OT.

Edit: apparently 4th and 19 was in 2nd OT

1.Dewey (Swamp Rat) Warren
2.Condredge Holloway - our first DT QB
3.Tony (Gunslinger) Robinson - spindly legs and all, but he could heave a football
4.Darryl Dickey - simply for destroying Miami in the Sugar Bowl
5.Casey (Iceman) Clausen - LB mentality at QB
6.Justin Worley - gets waaayyy too much criticism for playing his arse off and getting battered behind a weak OL.

GREAT ONE!

Oh man. I was at that game. One of my favorite moments ever. Casey is my 2nd favorite for that game alone. I was there with a long time friend who is Bama to the core. I almost felt bad for him. Almost.

Manning, Shuler, Tee, Casey, Streater, Holloway, Kelly, Tony... all great Quarterbacks, I watched them all and enjoyed them.

But the one that holds a special place in my heart is Alan Cockrell. He is the Quarterback who broke the 12 year streak of defeats to Bear. I'll never forget him for that.

Shuler ahead of Peyton. I don't really know why or have a favorite memory because i was so young, but he's the reason i became a Tennessee fan. Sentimental value I guess.

Casey and Tee are equal to me, love that Tee helped us win the N.T. but I remember him more for having I think it was the NCAA record for consecutive completions.

Honestly I like em all except Bray, he "irked" me

One of my favorite moments by a Tennessee QB is Darryl Dickey in the Sugar Bowl. His stats weren't that great, but his poise in that particular moment was something special. And he outshone the heisman winner and knocked Miami out of a national championship.

May have already been answered, but lone loss was at Auburn in 03. Cadillac Williams ran wild.

Heath was my favorite to watch
Had he come around in this day and age and spread offense he would kill it.
Oh, if he had stayed for his senior year. UT likely only loses one game that year. (UF)

Way to go contrarian, GV. I honestly didn't expect to see a vote for Worley. Nice.

Ah, from Rhea County. Good record, 24-5-2 as a starter. He's definitely one I thought of when cycling through the quarterbacks in my mind.

What's your best memory of him?

I have a couple that come to mind. Unfortunately, one is the game against #1 Notre Dame where he played magnificently, but fell just short when he threw a heartbreaking interception near the goal line.

The other I think of is the game against Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

For Andy Kelly... Mine is the Miracle at South Bend..I was there with my Dad..His passes were on the numbers for the entire second half

Shuler was my favorite--could do it all, and of course Clausen, Martin, Robinson and Holloway were all exceptional.

I was waiting for a Streater reference.

I can't believe I didn't think of Streater! He was my quarterback during my student days at Tennessee! This was an awesome game!

Ice Man Casey Clausen. Was an absolute warrior during his time here and if not for a terrible job by Fulmer getting his team ready to play LSU in the SEC Championship game he would have at least gotten to play for the NC and very possibly could have won it that yr. That team was absolutely loaded, especially offensively. That is still one of my fave all time Vol teams and one of the best in my Vol watching lifetime.
